Keri realised that the expense of her not making a change could have lead to her health being in a dangerous place,

Everything she had tried before was all based around how much weight you can lose in a really short period of time,

And it always lead to her giving up and having to start again over and over.

After being with us a few years now Keri has achieved more than she knew was possible,

Not only has she dropped a tonne of body fat she’s also the strongest she’s ever been in her life,

She isn’t just coming in to get as sweaty as possible, every session has an intention, she has direction and she has support,

I attended a workshop on squatting and lunging, and one of the biggest takeaways was actually what wasn’t discussed.

It wasn’t about chasing the perfect squat.
It wasn’t about forcing everyone into the same position.

And it wasn’t about getting lost in the technical details of depth, lever lengths, femur angles, or trying to make everyone’s movement look identical.

Instead, the focus was on helping people move in the way that works best for their body.

No two people are built the same, so no two squats should look exactly the same either. What matters is finding a movement pattern that is safe, strong, and repeatable for the individual.

Because at the end of the day, squatting isn’t just a gym exercise. It’s sitting down and standing up, climbing stairs, getting off the floor, picking things up, and staying capable as we get older.

At Essentials we are not just trying fit people into a textbook squat.

It’s to help people move better, get stronger, and build confidence in what their body can do.

These photos are a reminder of what’s possible at Essentials,

Not because these people are an exception.
Not because they had more time.
Not because they found the secret solution.

They simply decided that enough was enough.

Over the years we’ve helped hundreds of people lose weight, build confidence and completely change the way they feel about themselves.

And whilst the physical transformations are incredible, believe it or not they’re not the thing people always value most once they’ve achieved them.

- It’s the confidence to book the holiday.
- To get in the photos.
- To wear what they actually want to wear.
- It’s having more energy at the end of a busy day.
- Feeling stronger.
- Sleeping better.
- Being a better example for their children.

It’s no longer spending every Monday saying, “Right, this week I’m starting”

Ok here we go… July 6th 🕣

On Monday 6th July Essentials Training has been open for 6 years!!!!

6 whole years of changing the bodies, lives and fitness of hundreds to the Wickford area

It’s been a long time to get to this point but the results and experience we deliver is at a level that speaks for itself.

When we first opened we never had a launch date so consider this our “re-launch” and an anniversary wrapped into one.

Our next 6 week programme intake starts on this date, it is the last time to lock in founding members rates. After that pricing will be updated going forward 🤝

The team at Essentials has spoke to many people over the years who just couldn’t commit at a time for various reasons. If you are still sitting on the fence don’t let this slip you by.

And for anyone new peering in, we would love to have you.

Essentials training is a place where everyday people can benefit from real training in a comfortable environment.

It’s been a whole year since we moved from 1:1 PT to Small Group PT

Let us tell you why…

For us, it came from wanting to coach people better.
After years of doing 1:1 PT, we noticed something:
A lot of sessions slowly stopped becoming productive training sessions.
They became life updates.
Stress dumps.
Therapy sessions.
Catch ups between sets.
And those conversations matter.
But we realised the gym floor isn’t always the best place for them.

If someone spends half the session venting, they might leave emotionally lighter…
…but physically underchallenged.
So we rebuilt the model.
Now we separate the two.

The gym floor is for training:
Energy.
Coaching.
Effort.
Progression.
The room is kicking.

Then outside the sessions, we have structured reviews and check-ins where we can properly talk about:
Lifestyle.
Nutrition.
Mindset.
Stress.
Habits.
The bigger picture.

And you know what, it made both sides better.
The support became more intentional.
And the training quality went through the roof.

And before people ask…
Is SGPT just a “exercise class?”
Not even close…

You might have 6 people in a room, but no two people are necessarily doing the same workout.
One person’s squat pattern might be:
• barbell squat
• goblet squat
• split squat
• even an RDL if they’re managing an injury

It’s about meeting your skill, experience and performance where you are in the day.
You get as much hands on help as a 1:1 PT but you get the vibe of a small group, you honestly can’t beat it.

Different abilities.
Different bodies.
Different goals.
Different journeys.
What’s shared is the atmosphere.
That’s the magic of it.
