Three Head Speed Pro Legend tennis racquets arrived for me today thanks to Tennis Point.
The first thing to do was to string them in Head RIP Control at 53lbs using the Wilson Baiardo stringing machine.
Next, the grips needed building up two sizes using full size grip builders, followed by a full regrip and overgrip using Head grips.
Racquets are now court ready in time for their first hit.

Tecnifibre Razor Code out, Tecnifibre Razor Code in!

I last restrung this racquet in October 2023, so this Babolat Pure Drive was due a restring, though the tension hold was excellent for a polyester string over this timeframe.

Thermocore technology aids in softening the structure of this monofilament poly which is designed for spin and durability, but is softer on the arm than traditional polyester strings.

A change in colour from the usual blue was requested, so the white option was taken and the racquet was also regripped with a Head Dual Absorbing replacement grip.

Immediate feedback was that the racquet played great!

A Dunlop G-Force 50 squash racquet restrung with Ashaway UltraNick 17 and regripped with a Head Dual Absorbing grip, replacing an old set of pink synthetic gut and tired grip.

Ashaway UltraNick strings are constructed from a Zyex Multifilament core.

It is a fine, powerful, lightweight and durable string, just like PowerNick, but it also offers a soft feel.

Ashaway Ultranick 17 is 1.25mm in diameter for superior durability and string life. The textured surface increases ability to spin and cut the ball.

A couple of brand new Prince tennis racquets, purchased unstrung and handed to me for stringing.

Completed with the customer’s choice of Prince Synthetic Gut with Duraflex at 45lbs which will give a nice playable and comfortable game of tennis.

Duraflex is a heat resistant fibre that provides a wear barrier for 50% improved durability and allround performance from a mid-range string.
The outer wrap provides more feel while the centre core adds strength & tension retention.

Tennis Elbow Sufferers:

I have restrung a lot of racquets recently for suffers of tennis elbow.

One common issue with string beds is the incorrect recommendation of string, or the lack of knowledge by the stringer regarding what to put in a racquet for a sufferer of tennis elbow.

Polyester strings, along with hybrids containing Kevlar are notorious for unfelt vibration travelling down the frame, through the handle and transferring to the players arm, attributing to tennis elbow.

To make playing much more comfortable, stringers should be offering a multifilament string strung at a lower tension. Multis have fantastic vibration dampening qualities, and a lower tension gives a much enlarged sweet spot, therefore minimising issues caused by off-centre shots.

Additionally, I have been following Tennis Elbow Queen who gives some great advice on exercises to combat this issue.

There’s no affiliation here, but thought I’d share this find, and I hope Tennis Elbow Queen doesn’t mind being tagged in this post!
