Full day's training for these four today in preparation for their upcoming fights at the Fist Of The Midlands Event on Saturday 20th.

Work on sparring, pad drills, working the ring (cage) and clinch work.

Excellent sparring session again on Thursday.

Everyone put in 110% pressure testing their skills.

Not only are they working on their skills they're also getting in their cardio, working on their endurance and stamina.

Each round is 2 minutes long with a 30 second rest in-between while rotating to their next partner. Students rotate through the entire class getting the opportunity to spar against different body shapes/sizes and levels of ability.
This also teaches a level of control for times when they're sparring someone of a lower grade to themselves.

Each student also gets a round in with Sensei Craige which earns them a longer rest after but also some one to one coaching.

It was a sweaty one tonight for our Black Belts.

Tonight all our assistant instructors took part in our refresher course. The purpose of the course is to ensure all instructors are working at the high standard we pride ourselves on and are all teaching to a uniform standard.

3 hours was nowhere near enough time to cover our extensive syllabus however we made a solid start which wasn't easy in the heat.

A big thank you to you all for turning up tonight, your dedication and hard work doesn't go unnoticed.

It's SATS week for many of our students!

This time of year, many of our younger students will be prepping for, or starting various exams at various stages of their academic lives.

A note from Sensei:

I'd love to see you in the dojo, even if you're not 100% engaged as normal but it's ok if you want to focus on your studies. The dojo isn't going anywhere. Both myself, the other instructors and your dojo family are here to support you if you need us. Remember you can talk to any of us at any time if you have any concerns, whether it's related to the dojo or not, we're here for you.

On a personal note, I'm also feeling the pressure since I also have assignments to turn in before the end of my school year, so I understand completely how you feel!

On that note remember your SATs are NOT and will NEVER be a reflection of how awesome YOU are. If you get the scores you want, great, if not it's honestly not a big deal. In the grand scheme of life it's only a small part of a much bigger and richer picture.

Embrace the challenge, be there to support your friends, and look forward to the next chapter of your grand life adventure after.

See you all in the dojo soon you awesome lot.
