Last week we got out of the office and onto the hills right on our doorstep ⛰️

It was all about building knowledge, sharpening skills, and getting hands-on with the latest gear bringing our promise of “Equipment and Expertise to Venture Further” to life.

From filters by Katadyn, stoves from Optimus, to Petzl hardware and La Sportiva footwear and equipment, the team put everything to the test in real conditions.

And in true fashion, the Cumbrian weather delivered—giving us a full four-season experience in just a few days 🌧️🌬️☀️

ASTRO and CANYON GUIDE harness safety alert: Replacement of the ventral D-ring

User feedback alerted us to premature wear of the screws on the gated ventral attachment point on ASTRO rope access harnesses manufactured before October 2023 (harnesses that were affected by our call for inspection in 2023, including CANYON GUIDE harnesses).

This wear can cause the ventral D-ring’s pin to release, and the attachment point to open, which could lead to serious injury or death. This is why we ask that you replace the metal D-ring and the screws on the gated ventral attachment point, upon receiving the replacement kit.

We’re looking for a detail-orientated and enthusiastic individual that is seeking involvement in events, working as part of a small team, and that’s able to use their initiative and apply themselves to all things marketing!

We’re a small department packed with skills and we’re looking for our next addition to fit right into the team.

This afternoon, I joined residents and business owners from Tebay to present our petition to Number 10 Downing Street, calling for changes to controversial plans to partially close Junction 38 of the M6 for four years.

Of course we absolutely agree that the work that engineers are doing to rebuild bridges across the motorway is vitally important. No one would dispute this.

However, the disruption set to be caused by these closures over the next four years will have devastating impacts.

This will include significant damage to tourism in both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as huge delays for people living in Tebay, Orton, Grayrigg, and other villages near the junction, and to local businesses in the area. And it will see motorway traffic being diverted through the already under-strain Kendal and Kirkby Stephen town centres.

Building temporary slip roads would keep the junction open, reduce these enormous impacts, and allow this essential project to still go ahead.
