🧑 The Challenge Is Set! 🧑

Who's heading to Lydiard parkrun tomorrow?

Let's see if we can turn the start line into a sea of The Longevity Games Finishers T-shirts! 🌊🧑

Whether you've got a bright orange 2026 finisher's tee, a pink one from previous events, or any of your Longevity Games gear, pull it on and wear it with pride.

The mission? πŸš€

How many Longevity Games finishers can we get at Lydiard parkrun tomorrow?

Let's flood the crowd with colour, celebrate being part of this amazing community, and maybe spark a few conversations about why we're on a mission to make Swindon the fittest town in the country.

πŸ“Έ If you spot fellow finishers, grab a photo and share it. πŸ‘• Wear your finisher's T-shirt. 🧑 Bring the Longevity Games spirit.

Who's in? Let us know below and let's see just how orange (and pink!) we can make Lydiard tomorrow!

πŸ“– One chapter in Dr David Cox's book, "The Age Code", really got me thinking about what's happening here in Swindon.

Chapter 4 looks at Kuwait and how rapidly health changed when the environment changed. In just one generation, increased wealth, less physical activity, and greater access to highly processed foods led to a significant rise in obesity and type 2 diabetes.

While Swindon isn't Kuwait, there are parallels we shouldn't ignore.

Over the last few decades, daily life has become far more convenient. Many of us spend long periods sitting at desks, in cars, or on the sofa. Food is available 24/7, often delivered directly to our door. Technology has removed much of the physical effort that was once built into everyday life.

The challenge is that our bodies haven't evolved as quickly as our environment.

We're still designed to move regularly, build and maintain muscle, challenge our cardiovascular system, and eat predominantly whole foods. Yet modern life often nudges us in the opposite direction.

That's why I believe the answer to many of our long-term health challenges isn't simply building more hospitals or treating illness once it arrives.

It's creating a culture where movement is normal, fitness is valued, strength is maintained as we age, and healthy choices are easier to make.

That's exactly why we're building The Longevity Games.

Our ambition isn't just to host events. It's to help create a healthier Swindon, where people are encouraged to improve their fitness, maintain their independence for longer, and invest in their future health before problems develop.

Health isn't built in hospitals.

It's built every day through the choices we make, the habits we form, and the communities we create.

πŸ’š Your pace, not a race.

Great businesses don’t just sponsor events… they back a vision. πŸ’š

That’s exactly why we’re so proud to have Cantillon Group supporting The Longevity Games again in 2026. πŸ™Œ

Based right here in Swindon, Cantillon Group was founded by Matt and Naomi Cantillon in 2010 and has grown into a highly respected multi-service construction and facilities business covering electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, decorating, building works, facilities maintenance and much more.

But what stands out most is that they genuinely understand what we’re trying to achieve.

The Longevity Games has never just been about one event or one day. It’s about creating a healthier future for Swindon and beyond. It’s about helping people move more, build confidence, improve their healthspan and realise they’re capable of far more than they think.

Matt and Naomi immediately understood that vision.

They understand that stronger communities are built when local businesses invest in local people. πŸ’ͺ

As a company that has continued to grow from a local business founded in 2010 into a trusted name across the region, their support helps us keep pushing our mission forward and reach even more people across Swindon and beyond. 🌍

A huge thank you to Matt, Naomi and everyone at Cantillon Group for believing in what we do and for being part of the journey once again in 2026. πŸ™

Please take a look at their website and support the businesses that support our community:

Together, we're proving that when local businesses and local communities work together, amazing things can happen. πŸ’š

πŸŽ₯ A snapshot of what many people are calling probably the most inclusive functional fitness event in the country. πŸ’š

The isn't about being the fastest, strongest, or fittest person on the day. It's about challenging yourself, supporting others, and investing in your long-term health alongside an incredible community. From first-timers to experienced athletes, everyone starts with the same goal – to become a little stronger, fitter, and more resilient than they were yesterday.

Our next event takes place on Sunday 13th September at Swindon Harriers Athletics Track, and we'd love you to be part of it. πŸ’ͺ

Your pace, not a race. πŸ’š

🧑 WE LISTEN TO OUR COMMUNITY 🧑

One thing we've always tried to do at The Longevity Games is listen to the people who take part.

We know not everyone wants or needs a finishers T-shirt, while others absolutely love collecting them and wearing them with pride around Swindon (and beyond! 😍).

Our mission has always been to make The Longevity Games as accessible as possible, because we genuinely believe that taking part in regular physical activity can transform lives, improve health, boost confidence, and help people stay stronger and more independent for longer.

So, following feedback from participants, from our September event onwards you'll have two entry options:

πŸƒ Standard Entry – Β£26

πŸ‘• Entry + Finishers T-Shirt – Β£36

The famous Longevity Games finishers T-shirts have become a bit of a badge of honour, and we regularly spot them in gyms, parkruns, supermarkets, coffee shops, workplaces, and all around Swindon! 🧑

But most importantly, this change gives more people the opportunity to take part in an event that is all about inclusivity, community, and improving your long-term health.

Whether you're walking, jogging, running, stepping or jumping your way around the course, there's a place for you at The Longevity Games.

Your pace, not a race. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ†πŸ’ͺ WORLD RECORD SMASHED! πŸ’ͺπŸ†

120,480kg lifted in 24 hours.

Take a moment to think about that number.

That's over 120 tonnes moved by one person in a single day. The equivalent of lifting the weight of multiple lorries, all through sheer determination, grit and an unwillingness to quit.

What Matt Howe has achieved is nothing short of extraordinary.

He didn't just break the world record. He absolutely demolished it.

Over the past 24 hours we've witnessed an incredible display of physical endurance, mental toughness and resilience. As the hours passed and the fatigue built, Matt kept going. Rep after rep. Hour after hour. Refusing to let discomfort dictate the outcome.

This has been about so much more than bicep curls.

It has been a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when you commit to a goal, embrace adversity and keep putting one foot in front of the other when every part of you wants to stop.

Most importantly, Matt has done all of this to raise awareness and funds for PTSD, a cause that means so much to many people and families.

If you've followed his journey, been inspired by his achievement, or simply want to support the cause behind this incredible effort, there is still time to donate:

A huge thank you to everyone who supported, encouraged, volunteered, donated, shared posts, and cheered Matt on throughout this challenge.

And to Matt...

You set out to break a world record.

You ended up showing us all what resilience, determination and human potential really look like.

Absolutely phenomenal. πŸ‘πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ
