quiet practices, that may even be stronger dynamic asana practices, invite stillness. and stillness can bring discomfort. whether that’s physical, emotional or both can change moment to moment; it can change every time we step on our mat. many of us live such fast, busy lives, that slowing down and finding presence, can be one of the biggest challenges we face; quiet can be something we run away f

rom, it can stir things up we’ve not wanted to notice. finding comfort in discomfort, not only helps us grow, it helps us meet ourselves with no filter. that journey can be a long, and sometimes, bumpy road - but that’s ok - we’re here to hold space and do this together. the word yoga comes from the root word yuj, which means to yoke, to join or to unite, and in a spiritual sense, refers to the joining of the individual consciousness with the universal consciousness. many now interpret that yoga means to unite the mind, body and soul, and so on the surface, the practice is personal, and although we follow the same path, each person’s journey is ultimately unique. but one of the many incredible things about yoga is that, something so personal can unite so many people. even if we practice by ourselves, a sense of connection to a wider community - united by a shared love of yoga, is often bubbling away under the surface. the power of this connection is almost palpable in a group class, when your breath and movement is synchronised harmoniously with others around you. just like yoga, community is about connection and unity. merge them and their power is amplified, allowing us to feel safe and supported in our journey. in a world where virtual communication has become the norm, authentic connection is more vital than ever. our community is filled with likeminded, compassionate souls; you’ll meet new friends, make meaningful connections and find a real sense of belonging. join us at unfurling space, and we’ll unfurl together. ✨

whether you’re a teacher or a student, you’ve probably experienced this

the classes we remember most aren’t always the ones with the most advanced poses

they’re often the ones where we felt welcomed, supported, and able to be ourselves

a teacher’s voice does so much more than deliver instructions

it can create safety

encourage exploration

invite presence

and become the thread that carries us through a practice — helping us navigate challenge, soften into stillness, and stay connected to ourselves along the way

for me, the most impactful teachers are rarely the loudest or the most polished

they’re the ones who teach from a place of authenticity

the ones who understand that the asana is rarely the destination

it becomes a portal into something deeper

awareness

sensation

breath

presence

teachers — what’s something you’ve learned about finding your voice?

students — what qualities make a class memorable for you? ✨

it’s easy to think everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing

especially when you’re new

but every single person in the room was a beginner once

the practice isn’t about getting everything right

it’s about showing up

breathing

and allowing yourself to begin

if you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to start, this is your reminder that you don’t need to have it all figured out first ✨

why 108 sun salutations? ☀️

each year on the summer solstice, many yoga communities come together to move through 108 sun salutations — a moving meditation marking transition, reflection, and renewal.

in yogic tradition, the number 108 is considered sacred.
108 beads on a mala.
108 energy lines said to meet at the heart centre.
a number symbolising wholeness, connection, and completion.

practising 108 sun salutations becomes less about achievement and more about rhythm. breath. presence. community.
a chance to notice what rises, what softens, and what carries you through.

for our studio’s first birthday, it felt like the perfect way to honour this first cycle around the sun ☀️

we’ll move together outdoors on the solstice, with plenty of space to pause, rest, or even tag team the practice with a friend if needed.

movement, snacks, chats, community, solstice energy ✨

when i think back to the teachers who have shaped my practice over the years

it’s rarely the fancy poses i remember

it’s how they made people feel

safe enough to explore
supported enough to try
comfortable enough to be themselves

for the teachers who leave the biggest impact, the asana is rarely the destination

it becomes a portal into something deeper

awareness
sensation
breath
presence
and a fuller connection with yourself

these are some of the qualities i’ve noticed in teachers whose impact lasts long after the class has finished

teachers — what would you add?

students — what makes a teacher memorable for you? ✨

most of the changes i’ve noticed from yoga weren’t the ones i was looking for

they happened gradually

so gradually i almost missed them

a deeper breath here
a little more patience there
a moment of softness where there used to be resistance

the biggest shifts are often the quietest ones ✨

what’s something yoga has changed for you that surprised you?

for all the years i’ve been practising and teaching

these are still the lessons i come back to

not because i haven’t learned them

but because life gets busy
i get distracted
and sometimes i need the reminder too

that’s the thing about a yoga practice

it’s not about mastering something once

it’s about returning

again and again

what’s a lesson life keeps teaching you?

sundays can come with a lot of pressure

to get organised
to be productive
to prepare for the week ahead perfectly

but maybe the most useful question isn’t

“how can i do more?”

maybe it’s

“what would help me feel more like myself this week?”

more movement
more rest
more fresh air
more connection
more space to breathe

it doesn’t have to be complicated ✨

what’s one thing you’re taking into next week?
