The kart was only supposed to be going for a check and tweak on the jig, so why travel so far? Because Darren is the best in the business.
Not only has he straightened the frame to better than factory 0mm accuracy, he checked all the factory mig welds over which can be too brittle for something that is made to flex, and found that some were starting to show signs of cracking, so off with migs and replaced with beautiful tig welds that should last the life time of the frame, so we don't have to worry about them cracking whilst at the track.
Most teams have a track side jig, and these are fine for minor adjustments needed in a hurry after a shunt, but they really only correct the lateral measurements across the front, and every time you pull it, it'll twist the frame further back, so I would always recommend a periodic check on a flatbed jig by a professional like Darren.
If anyone ever recommends Darren to you, and they will, but you think he's too far away, trust us when we say he's worth the trip.
