Solid Start for A & B Teams

2 cracking results for the BDFL sides this weekend as the A Team took a point away at reigning champions Village FC in the Premier division and the B Team secured all three points away at Highgate United in division one

After a tough season for both of those sides last year it was great to see them start off with 2 very positive results that bode well for the coming season

Elsewhere, the C Team played well enough to get something out of the game on Saturday but an unfortunate injury to Silhill stalwart goalkeeper Howard Yates midway through the second half flipped the game on it's head with the visitors scoring twice in the second half to turn the game around

Early Exit for Sils in the County Vase

A difficult afternoon at SXR for the 1sts as they never really got going in a tight game against Coventry Dunlop

The visitors took the lead midway through the second half and looked like they were going through only for Sils to win a penalty on 85 minutes to look to get back level
It wasn't to be however as the goalkeeper made a good save to deny David Akpara

The game was wrapped up with the final kick of the game as Dunlop scrambled the ball home from close range to put them through tot he next round

This week's beer of the week is......... ESTRELLA GALICIA!!

Spanish, NOT Span-ish!

Brewed In Spain, Estrella Galicia is an exceptional Spanish lager with a distinctive flavour, crafted using traditional methods.
Made using the perfect combination of smooth Galician water, aromatic and bitter hops, and Pilsner malts, this refreshing beer has a clear pale golden colour, a light body and a well balanced sweetness with a bitter finish.
It is made from a specific wort in the only production facility of Hijos de Rivera, in A Coruña. The brewmasters take approximately one month’s work in elaborating Estrella Galicia Especial, and half of that time is dedicated to its cold storage.

This lager comes in at 4.7% abv and is served on draught, chilled in it's our very own branded glassware.

The price per pint for this weekend is just £4.30 while stocks last!

Birmingham County FA Saturday Vase - 1st Round
Saturday 5th September 2026

It's a break from league action this weekend as the 1st Team take on fellow MFL Division 3 side Coventry Dunlop at SXR in the 1st Round of the County Vase

As you will no doubt be aware, Silhill had a great run in the Vase last season reaching the final back in April and so will be looking to go again this time around starting this weekend

The visitors have had a great start to the season this year and currently sit in 3rd place in the league level on points with Sils on 15 so it's sure to be a tight game

The clubhouse and bar will be open from 11.30am with fresh cobs available along with the usual drinks and snack selection

Note: KO slightly earlier than usual at 2.00pm

THIS WEEKEND'S ADULT SECTION FIXTURES

This weekend sees the return of the Birmingham & District Football League with opening day fixtures for our A, B and C Teams

The A Team start away at reigning champions Village FC - a real test for Gary Rourke's team but a chance to lay down a big marker for the coming season and get off to a flyer

Sammy Webster's new look B Team travel the short distance over to Highgate United, who are new to the league, in their first game of the season
Division 1 looks as tough as ever so they'll be looking to start off on the right foot tomorrow and pick up some points

Finally the C Team have a home fixture against Sikh Hunters at SXR with kick-off scheduled for 2.30pm
No teams news as yet but rumour has it that Drew Hill has been shuffled backwards in the team and will likely featured in the defence this season after his cameo run as striker last term

YOUTH TEAM FIXTURES FOR THE OPENING WEEKEND OF THE SEASON!

This weekend marks the official opening of the season for most of our youth section with the return of the CYGFL teams on Saturday morning in the Girls section and CWYFL fixtures on Sunday

We've got 2 teams in cup action straight away and also 4 matches against Bournville on the same day!

Our MJPL sides have an extra week to prepare for their first games

Best of luck to everyone over the weekend with their fixtures - go out there, enjoy it and do your best!
