Its derby day tomorrow (weather permitting) for both league sides. The 1s travel down the road to Bapchild, looking to bounce back from last week's defeat and cement 2nd spot in the league. The 2s are hosting Faversham 2s at the RCG.
The 2nd XI tomorrow will again feature 5 players aged 15 and under as well as 2 more players who have progressed through our colts system. We are hugely proud of how successful our system is and the opportunities we provide to our colts. To see these players playing league cricket already is a huge credit to them, their parents and all the hard work our coaches put in. We're really excited about the direction of travel at the club and would love to see you come up and support us!

A disappointing day for the 1s saw us fall to defeat at Leeds and Broomfield. England won the toss and decided to bat in lovely conditions. The Leeds attack bowled well with plenty of swing movement on offer but Liam Weerakoon batted with patience and skill to bring up his 50. He looked on course for a big one before the Leeds skipper pinned him lbw for 55. This prompted another mid order wobble as Rodmersham went from 104 for 3 to 118 for 6. Les Linder and Tyler Brook rebuilt excellently and helped guide us to 183 for 8 but the wobble cost us getting 200+. Rodmersham bowled well early on without reward with Darren Nokes first 6 overs only going for 7 runs. Charlie Hamilton stepped up from captaining the 2s to pick up a wicket in his first over but sensible batting saw the score ticking over. As Rodmersham tired and the batsman became more settled, he scoring rate picked up and eventually Leeds got over the line comfortably with 9 overs and 7 wickets to spare. We go again this Saturday with a derby at Bapchild!

Rodmersham 1st XI made it 3 from 3 yesterday. On a very good pitch, both sides made batting look unnecessarily difficult! Rodmersham won the toss and comfortably moved to 60 without loss before Kings Hill introduced Mohammad Yaseen who turned the game on its head. A spell of full inswinging seam bowling saw him take a devastating 8 for 27 from his 9 overs and left Rodmersham reeling on 118 for 9. A vital last stand of 30 between Cameron Stevens and Kev Baker saw Rodmersham post 148 and have something to bowl at.
2 early wickets gave Rodmersham hope but a 60 run, 3rd wicket stand made it feel like the game was getting away until Craig England removed the opposition skipper. A fantastic spell of 3 for 19 helped Rodmersham continue to chip away and dismiss their opponents for 109. A great game to win from the position we found ourselves in! Onto Leeds and Broomfield away next week!

1s and 2s are both in action tomorrow. The 1s are looking to build on last week's result with a home game against Kings Hill 2nd XI. Our 2s are travelling to Bobbing to face Rainham 4th XI, looking to bounce back from last week's set back. The weather is set to be glorious, RCG is looking incredible so come and have a cold one whilst watching the boys!

A great u14 league game yesterday saw both Rodmersham teams play each other. It went down to the wire with Rodmersham Whites winning off the last ball. More importantly, it was great to see the game played in such great spirit with a lot of friendly banter!
