MATCH RESULT
Ridgeway's bowling attack blew Swanwick Hall away on a breezy afternoon in S12 as we secured a convincing victory by 7 wickets.
After winning the toss, Ridgeway elected to field first. The visitors made a solid start and reached 30 without loss, but that’s where the trouble began for Swanwick Hall. The introduction of Keelan McNally completely changed the course of the match.
Keelan has produced match-winning spells for us before, but this wasn’t just a good spell, it was a demolition job. He ripped through the batting line-up and looked capable of taking a wicket with every delivery. It was a ferocious display of fast bowling that completely decimated the innings. Combined with the captain Ash Roberts taking superb figures of 4-17, Swanwick Hall never recovered once the collapse began and were eventually bowled out for just 57.
Chasing a low total can often be difficult as many cricketers will know. We took the sensible approach, knowing that early wickets and a batting collapse of our own could quickly have made things uncomfortable. Gavin Stevens anchored the chase with an unbeaten 19, while Zach Gage with a helpful 20 guided Ridgeway to victory.
It may have been a short match, but it’s always better to be on the winning side of one. Keelan’s outstanding spell proved to be the decisive factor, backed up by excellent ground fielding and some sharp catching throughout the innings.
Another win for the lads in our league campaign, with some tough fixtures to come.
