⛳Exciting opportunity – we're looking for a new team member

Qualified Greenkeeper

Your role
You will be involved in all aspects of course maintenance, including:

• Cutting and preparation of greens, tees, fairways and rough
• Course setup for daily play and competitions
• Aeration, top dressing, verti-cutting and scarifying
• Machinery checks and basic maintenance
• Supporting ongoing course improvement projects
• Working to high standards of presentation, playability and health & safety

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who is highly motivated and able to work on their own and as part of a team to undertake all aspects of the golf course maintenance.

Qualifications required:
• Minimum NVQ level 2 or equivalent in greenkeeping / sports turf management
• A full UK driving license
• Two years working in a similar role (desirable, not essential)
• PA1, PA2 & PA6 chainsaw certificates (desirable, not essential)
• PA1, PA2 & PA6 spraying certificates (desirable, not essential)
• A good understanding of the rules of Golf and the golfer requirements
• Good timekeeping skills

As we continue our look at the beautiful par 3s at Lees Hall.

5th Hole a short, innocent-looking hole that can give you a false impression. Don’t let this little shorty fool you.

Don’t be fooled into thinking you’re walking away with an easy par. With out of bounds running all the way down the left-hand side and the wind often blowing across from that direction, it’s easy to misjudge both the breeze and the effect of the trees. What looks like a shot that should move back into the green can simply hold its line and end up in the lane.

Going long isn’t the answer either. Miss over the back and you’re doing well to escape with a bogey. Add in the four greenside bunkers and this hole quickly shows its teeth.

Take your par and move on. This is a hole that demands respect despite its length.

A hole that demands your full attention.

Every hole has its own story, and the 11th is certainly no exception. From the accurate tee shot through the narrow gap avoiding the tall trees and over the deep, sloping ditch to the final putt on a green that falls from back to front, every shot requires precision.

Misjudge the pace on the greens, and walking away with three or even four putts is a very real possibility.
