Well, what a great last training session before the league games start on Sunday! ⚽️🔥

The pitches are finally starting to get back green & healthy, just in time for the new season. The boys put in a fantastic shift tonight, but a massive shoutout to Bobby T for achieving our Trainer of the Week! 🏆

Middlewood Rovers U9 Blacks Vs Abbey Lane Girls
30/09/26
Today was a really enjoyable game against a very good opposition. As our final friendly before the start of the season, the increased match length gave the players some additional game time and an opportunity to prepare for the weeks ahead.

We started the game a little on the back foot, but gradually grew into the match as it progressed. The second half was arguably our best half of football throughout pre-season, with some excellent improvement on show in both the players’ ability and, importantly, their confidence.

There were plenty of positives to take from the game, and it was fantastic to see the players putting into practice what they have been working on in training.

Overall, it was a game enjoyed by the players, parents and coaching team alike, and a great way to finish our pre-season preparations.

🏆A huge congratulations to Archie who is this weeks Man Of The Match!

Pre season friendly U9’s

We were visited by Ecclesfield Red Rose today, for the penultimate friendly match before the league begins. After a chilly start to the morning, the sun soon warmed things up and made for pleasant watching conditions. A different experience for the players though, but we kept the substitutes rolling and made sure that they kept well hydrated on the bench.

Our opponents started strongly and tested our defences early on in the first half, but our keeper was on form and made some crucial saves to minimise the losses. We kept the pressure up though and the team did well to keep the movement going. We battled on, breaking quickly when we had the ball and had a few missed opportunities but Alfie did find the back of the net and took a ball home again after the final whistle.

We did struggle with the pace and movement of our opponents, especially in the second half, but once we got our marking right, we managed the game well and stifled their attacks.

Congratulations to our man of the match, which today goes to our goalkeeper Noah, very well deserved, with some great demonstrations of his abilities, powering the ball up the field to open up the game for our striker team.

A very entertaining, high energy match and a great performance from both teams, well done to you all.

Middlewood Rovers Black vs. Hoyland Town Magpies
Pre season friendly U9’s

After missing two weeks of training, the first due to a scheduled match, the second due to the extreme weather, we started the game a little bit apprehensively.

The team soon settled down however, and found discipline in positioning and played a good passing game to keep the ball and create the opportunities.

Congratulations to Keyross, our man of the match today and he got to take a ball home!
He showed that he can read the game well and he played out of position when he needed to, tracking back quickly, he was also strong but fair when fighting for possession.

Overall, another strong performance from the team, with some great individual and collective efforts.
