Humbled by a fish!
After a 25 minutes battle, this Tuna decided she wanted off. This was when I realised how powerful these fish are, this one maybe 100kg. I managed to get her just 20 meters from the boat before she dived for freedom.

Some of the ones lost were 250-300kg, just too much for us, strength is only part of the game, I’d say 90% technique which we didn’t have🤣.

What a few days fishing it’s been in Spain.

We’ve not had many but we’ve had a few decent fish in Mequinenza and then travelled to the coast for a big game fishing charter which has been epic, just when you think you can handle any fish you get faced with reality.

It’s ripping!

Just as your nodding off the rod start ripping.

Another 40lb fish landed with Eric Torres Capdevila.

This greedy carp took 6x 20mm Halibuts meant for a Catfish. We thought it was a cat as she took off so aggressively, then she came up.

We had a bit of a mare getting to Spain yesterday, but we arrived last night and dropped a couple of sacks of 20mm Coppens & Skrettings over a spot.

We’ve dropped on that this morning and Arlow has opened the account with a small Mequinenza moggy.

A match of two halves.
We’ve been at our club lake today for a rover and I’ve pulled #1, I’ve decided on peg 5 since it gets some shade in the afternoon which allows the carp to get their heads down. The first 2.5 hrs have been difficult, I’ve only had 2 carp for 12lb, whilst peg 2 had 8 fish in the net.

I’ve lost 6 fish in a snag which turns out to be an old railway track. That’s forced me to make a big change and fish into open water and heavy feed. I’ve fed it for 30 minutes before dropping in on it and could see the fish were heads down.

I’ve put fish in the net for the remaining 3 hours without a loss, which has been much better fishing. I’ve put in 5.5 pints of 8mm pellets and 2 pints of micros and they’ve responded. I’ve ended up with 130+lb and managed the win which is a nice end to the weekend.

Next week we’re off to Spain in search of some monster Carp and Cats so that should be fun.

The Severn estuary one of the most dangerous tidal waters in the world. It feeds into the Bristol Channel which is home to some great fishing but treacherous to navigate. Fancy a go Brian Searle. 😆

Arlow’s been in a junior match today and just sneaked a win catching carp on the method, it was a close call with Reed Searle coming a close 2nd. All the kids have caught and won prizes which is great for them.
