Our second Selkirk RFC Skills session took place on Tuesday night as part of a four‑week pilot to gauge interest. Pulled together by Scott Tomlinson, the sessions have attracted over 20 players, with more than 30 signed up overall a tremendous start.
Players from U15 to senior level worked on positional skills including Scrum-half, Props, Hookers, and Hand Kicking. The programme aims to provide focused 1:1 skill development while also encouraging mentorship and a positive growth mindset across the club.
These short sessions give mentors a chance to set goals for the summer, share experience, and support player development. Thanks to the coaches who have contributed to this so far: Luke Pettie, Bruce Riddell, Robert Cook, James Bett, Gordon Hunter, Mike McVie, David Cassidy and John Rutherford.
The programme will expand in the coming weeks to cover second row, back row, centres, full backs and wingers.
Anyone able to volunteer half an hour per week is encouraged to get in touch with Scott Tomlinson.
