Well just like that the summer seems to be over.

We’re starting the back to school discussions and checks in my house. I have one off to uni, one changing schools for 6th form, hubby back to school ( he is a teacher) and I’m sat starting all my planning for the next tutoring year ahead (whilst putting off tidying my office).

As I enter my third year of full time tuition, I am so lucky to be continuing to work with some amazing students whilst also starting with some new ones too.

I am fully booked up for all my 1-1 sessions. However, I will be adding more exam workshops to my timetable, based on the success of them last year. So please keep a look out.

Wishing everyone a successful start to the year and looking forward to seeing all my students again over the next few weeks.

Tomorrow is GCSE results day. I’m sure those who are waiting for their results don’t need to be reminded.

After A levels last week this household is now waiting for GCSE news so we get it!!

I shared this quote last year and I think it’s still just as important!

Please remember all our young people are different. We all have differing strengths and weaknesses and although students will have sat the same exams, their starting points and experiences leading up to that point will have all been different.

Some students may be struggling with a disability, some with personal issues, others with illness. A grade 4 for one student may be amazing and have been hard fought for, yet for another may be disappointing. We all are individual and that’s what makes for a rounded society.

I am always amazed at the students I come across who are so determined to succeed despite their circumstances.

Tomorrow let’s celebrate everyone’s individual achievements and hard work rather than just comparing numbers.

After a very hectic finish to the year I’m now having a paperwork day whilst also reflecting on the year just gone.

The photos are of some of last weeks sessions but when I look back we have done so much.

There have been early entry GCSE students, resit students, students attending sessions who are now catching up on their education and just as importantly, enjoying maths, students who have now got a good base for their maths education and are continuing with tuition next year.

I have met so many different students with so many differing personalities and that is what makes tuition great. I love learning from each and everyone as much as they learn from me.
We are all unique and that’s what makes tuition varied and fun for me as we all learn and can be taught in so many differing ways.

So as all my students take a break for the summer I’m excited to be planning for September.

Positive Tuition will continue to provide high level maths tuition but we are also taking an exciting new step to enable us to help even more students. 🌻

As I move into a new stage for my tuition business it seems the right time to update my logo.

My maths tuition is very often about building confidence and resilience in maths, along with teaching the topics and understanding.

As the sunflower stands for growth and positivity even through challenges and represents happiness and steadfast commitment, it seems completely appropriate that this should be the symbol of my tuition business.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student grow throughout the year and become more confident and positive about their maths learning. I also love being the tutor that remains completely committed to helping them achieve their end goal.

Here’s to more exciting times ahead for Positive Tuition. The logo is just the start !!!! 🌻

When a student tells you that they’re so happy as they knew what invariant points were, in higher maths paper 3 today, because of the tutoring session last night. Phew!!!

Well that’s a wrap!!!

Last gcse session for 2025/2026 completed.

This time of year is always a time of mixed emotions, as I’ve taught some of my students for a number of years and have got to know them really well. I love hearing their news from outside of their tuition sessions. Whether that be finding out about their sports results or the latest gossip!!!

Having a good relationship with a student is imperative if we are going to do an intensive hour of maths. I’ve seen students move up from foundation to higher tiers, become adept at a mathematical topic they have previously struggled with and students who have become so much more confident in feeling they can succeed when they sit their exams.

So to my 2025/26 students. Good luck in the next stages of your life and make sure you keep in touch and let me know how you’ve got on 😊

It’s been a big and busy week for my students and also in our household. However, what an amazing surprise to see a new student attending my zoom maths lesson this morning 😊

I just love this job and the amazing families I work with.
