Sunday 9th March 10am till 2pm.

Your club needs you to attend the first official work party of the year.

Come to the clubhouse with a spade or shovel. If you have a wheel barrow bring that as well.

Members wanted the decking gone as it had become dangerous.

We've listened and it's gone completely.

We now need your help to move 6 tons of chuckies.

Again this was asked for by the members.

So come on down and do your bit for the club.

POLUTION INCIDENTS

I have received many calls from members over the last few weeks about the pollution at Auchens Farm Road Pump Station. Namely the Clay Pits.

Whilst Sepa have been called several times now seeing as a third incident has taken place. It would unfortunately appear that they have not notified Scottish Water who maintain?? and look after this pumpstation.

I, As the bailiff felt it necessary to contact Scottish Water to question what exactly are they doing to prevent this issue after all it is a health and safety issue.

The answer I was given "Oh we are not aware of any such incident!".

Seriously what are Sepa doing? It would appear absolutely nothing.

This is not good enough.

CAN ALL MEMBERS FROM NOW ON PLEASE CONTACT SCOTTISH WATER IF THERE ARE ANY FURTHER POLLUTION INCIDENTS ON 0800 077 8778
PLEASE ALSO CALL SEPA ON 0800 807 060.

Please get a reference number and again send this to me.

Please take photos of the incident and message them to me on here. This is vitally important that we have as much evidence of the neglecting of maintaining the Pump Station.

Many thanks Sandy Ritchie

A wee reminder to our members.

At this time of year if you start hitting smolts it’s best to move on leave them in peace.

Wherever possible fish barbless and if you do land one when targeting trout, releasing them with wet hands as quickly as possible.

They tend to hang around in shoals and it’s often obvious when you come across them.

If nymphing you’ll get constant nibbles on every cast and it’s easy to get seduced into thinking it might be something bigger.

These smolts are part of the future broodstock of the river so take care.

Smolts are young salmon that have gone through a physical change, their scales going silver in anticipation of the migration to the ocean.

They can vary in size, depending on how long they have been in the river .

Tight lines and please ensure you have a valid permit when fishing.

No permit means no fishing.
