FULL TIME | Watton RFC 31–61 Mildenhall & Red Lodge

A great way to finish pre-season with a hard-fought win away at Watton.

We dominated much of the first half and played some really good rugby, but huge credit to Watton who showed superb fight and commitment in the second half and made us work right until the end.

A good-spirited game played in the right way and one that everyone enjoyed.

A special mention for Luke, who capped off his debut with a try. Not a bad way to start in an Eagles shirt!

Plenty of positives to take forward as we head into the season. Thanks to Watton for hosting us and we wish them all the best for their season ahead.

The Eagles are back in action this Saturday as we travel to Watton RFC for our next pre-season fixture.

Another strong squad making the trip and another good opportunity to get minutes in the legs as we build towards the new season.

Following on from Saturday’s first pre-season run-out, we’re straight back into it this week.

Training tomorrow night at Jubilee Fields, Mildenhall — 18:30 start. Get yourself down and get some work in with the lads.

Then on Saturday we’re back on the road as we head to Watton for our next pre-season fixture.

New players are always welcome. Whether you’ve played before or fancy giving rugby a go, come down tomorrow and get involved.

Saturday. We’re back.

The Eagles head to Norwich this weekend for our opening pre-season fixture against Norwich Crusaders.

Pre-season has been about putting the work in, building as a group and getting ready for what’s ahead.

Saturday is our first chance to put that work onto the pitch.

And there’s still time to be part of it.

Whether you’ve played for years, haven’t pulled on a pair of boots in a decade, or have never played rugby before — come down and get involved.

We’re building for the new season and new players are always welcome.

Training every Thursday at 7pm. All shapes. All sizes. All abilities.

More than a rugby club.

Yesterday, a group of our lads gave up their Saturday to help two members of the MRLRFC family move house.

No rugby. No training. Nothing in it for them. They just turned up, got stuck in and grafted because someone from their club needed a hand.

And that says more about MRLRFC than any result ever could.

Rugby is what brings us together, but what makes a club is everything that happens away from the pitch.

The friendships you make, the people you can rely on, and a community that turns up for one another when it matters.

That’s what grassroots rugby should be about.

Not just teammates. Mates.

Not just a team. A community.

This is MRLRFC.
