We played our Dyson’s Cup match this week — a doubles competition — and what another fantastic afternoon it was!

🎳 Another great afternoon on the bowling green! 🎳

Hi everyone! Just a little update from us. 😊
We played our Dyson’s Cup match this week — a doubles competition — and what another fantastic afternoon it was!

🏆 Congratulations to John & Ernie, our very worthy winners! Excellent bowling, gentlemen — thoroughly deserved! 👏

And a big well done to Peter & Philip, our runners-up. Great bowling from you both too! 👏

We’ve also received funding from the council towards a new fence, which is fantastic news. A big thank you to Andy — it’s very much appreciated! 🙌

And finally, some of our members enjoyed a brilliant evening with our friends at Ordsall Bowling Club, taking part in a quiz night with plenty of pie and peas!

🎳🐾 PLEASE WELCOME OUR NEWEST MEMBER… BUDDY! 🐾🎳

We’re delighted to introduce the newest and, quite possibly, most competitive member of Ranskill Bowls Club… Buddy! 🐶🎳

He’s only just joined and already he’s been: 🎳 Having a go on the green:

📏 Measuring the bowls (very seriously, might we add!)
🏆 Checking out the trophies
🃏 Enjoying a game of cards with the lads
📝 And, most importantly… keeping the score!

In fact, after watching him in action, we’re afraid Lavina and Martin might need to start looking for new jobs… sorry guys! 😂

Buddy may be new to the club, but he’s clearly a natural. We’re expecting big things from this lad — although we’re not quite sure whether he’s here for the bowls, the banter, or the biscuits! 🐾🤣

Looking for a friendly club where there's always plenty of laughter?

Our club is a fantastic place to be, with lots of fun both on and off the green. We aren't in a league, but we enjoy friendly matches within the club and against other local clubs.

So, if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere, a good laugh and some friendly competition, we'd love to welcome you! If we have enough interest, we're also flexible and can look at arranging additional playing days.

Here's an update what weve been up to....

🏆 Senior Cup – 11th July

What a brilliant day in a beautiful setting with fantastic support from everyone. It's called the Senior Cup, but there was nothing "senior" about the bowling! 😄
A huge congratulations to our newest member, Neil, on winning the cup! 👏 Well done also to Philip, who was our worthy runner-up.

🏆 Browns Cup (Doubles) – 25th July

Another great afternoon of bowling, laughs and friendly competition. Congratulations to our winners – the two Simons! 🏆👏 A big well done as well to runners-up Johnny and Philip.

On 27th June we held the Barry Lawson Memorial Trophy Cup match.

My lovely dad, Barry, sadly passed away from MND in 2016. He only started playing crown green bowls in 2012 after we lost my mum to cancer. Bowling quickly became something he loved – it gave him purpose, routine, and a great social circle. He continued coming to support right up until the end, and it means a lot to see his name remembered in this way.

For me, it has also become something special, and despite my own ongoing health challenges, I played alongside Martin in the doubles – and for the first time we managed to win it 👏. I truly felt like my dad was there with us as the “third partner,” which made it a very emotional moment ♥️

It was a fantastic afternoon shared with such lovely people.

Well done to Johnny and John, the runners-up, and congratulations to me (Dawn) & Martin on winning 🏆

Bowling really does more than just fill time – it brings people together, gives support through difficult times, and helps you forget your worries, even if just for a while ♥️

We’d just like to say a big thank you to the Festival Committee for inviting us to be part of Ranskill Festival — we had a fantastic time.

We set up our target bowling and it turned out to be a really busy, fun session.

The best part was seeing so many boys and girls getting involved and doing so well — some of them kept coming back for more! 👏

It would be great to do more events like this on a regular basis. If anyone is interested, just get in touch or pop in and see us.

That’s what we’re all about — having a laugh, switching off from everyday worries, and without even realising it, keeping active too. 😊

We’re currently there on Saturdays at 5pm and Thursdays at 6pm, but we can be flexible. 📆

Well, how lucky have we been! We've managed to dodge the bad weather for our last two matches 🙏

First up was our Gentlemen's Cup match on Saturday 6th June. The weather turned out lovely, and everyone enjoyed a fantastic afternoon. Congratulations to Philip for finishing as runner-up, and a big well done to Simon, our deserving winner! 🏆

Then on Monday, we hosted East Markham for a home match. Once again, the sun shone, and we enjoyed a great afternoon filled with friendly competition, plenty of banter, and excellent company ❤️

We really do have a great time, and we're always happy to welcome new players. If you'd like to give bowls a try, meet new people, and enjoy some good company, why not get in touch or call in and see us? Don't sit at home on your own – come and join us! 🙌

Hi all, what an amazing few days we’ve had at the club! ☀️

Last week we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon with our old friends from Ordsall. It was a very friendly and enjoyable game with plenty of food, chatter, laughter and great company. Thankfully the weather held off just for us too! 😊

We also held our Singles Cup match on Saturday, and wow — what an afternoon of outstanding bowling. We are so proud of everyone involved, with some incredibly close and competitive games played in glorious surroundings.

A special thank you to Martin for kindly providing the raffle prizes in memory of his aunt - Irene Taylor, whom the Rose Bowl Trophy is named after. A lovely gesture and tribute. ❤️

And finally, congratulations to our valiant winner Johnny English 🏆 and our worthy runner-up John (Ernie) Morris. Well done lads — both should be very proud! 👏🎉

Hi all,

We had our first cup match yesterday — a doubles competition.

The weather was mostly kind to us, but nothing could dampen the spirits of our team! Everyone put in a great effort, followed by plenty of lovely chat and food afterwards.

A big well done to our runners-up, Simon W and Martin — great playing, lads.

And congratulations to our jubilant winners, Johnny and Carl! Fantastic performance from both of you.

Hi everyone 👋

If you’re reading this, you might be interested in giving bowling a try!

Here at Ranskill, we warmly welcome both newcomers and experienced bowlers. We offer three free taster sessions and pride ourselves on being a friendly, informal club.

Our crown green is well maintained, set within lovely gardens and surrounded by beautiful scenery. We’re also a flexible and sociable club, with a members WhatsApp group where games can easily be arranged at a time that suits you.

We’re keen to encourage younger players too (aged 12+). Bowling is a fun, tactical sport and a great way to stay active.

If you’re new to the area, it’s also a fantastic way to meet people and get to know the local community. We regularly organise friendly matches, both home and away.

And remember… even Superman loves bowling (cape optional!) 🦸‍♂️♥️
