Back in the summer 1996, Peter Loveless, Matt Loveless, & Martin Young started DMCRC at Oakmead School (old Gym hall). The Club steadily grew in size and we moved after about 6months, into the main assembly hall which was slightly larger. The Club then out-grew this hall and we re-located to Homefield School where we stayed until Feb 2005 until the school closed due to financial reasons. At Homefi
eld School the club regularly had 70+ people booking in and sometimes we used to run until between midnight and 1am in the morning! After about 6 weeks, Homefield School closed down, the club re-opened at Glenmore School for Girls where it stayed until we moved to Carter School in Poole. In 2020/21, due to the Pandemic, the club had a pause of its activities and as Carter School needed to make changed to cater for additional Covid procedures for its pupils we were no longer able to use the hall. This led to us searching to find a new venue to be able to restart in the summer of 2021. We have recently (Sept '21) moved to and secured the use of the large sports hall at Queen Elizabeth Leisure Centre in Wimborne, Dorset. We have placed a regular booking for Saturday afternoons between 1400 and 1800 and we plan to run meetings each week. This will be reviewed on a regular basis and the club will be reactive to any changes in the clubs or venues circumstances, government guidelines or restrictions or very low attendance numbers that would impact the club to stay financially sustainable. Any changes to the current plan will be announced on our social media channels and website. We are a financially healthy and reliable club that always aims to put on races all year round. Notification of any times the club will not be meeting will be made in advance via our social media channels and website. We are family friendly and always welcome new drivers with our popular Novice Class. Experienced members are always close by to ensure safety is a priority and offer any advice or guidance. Ample parking is available for everyone and spectators are always welcome too. We’ve updated the booking in procedure to try and make it a little smoother for all, so please carry out the following:
- click on the ‘book now’ button on our Fb page
- select the class you are entering and click ‘continue’
- select the correct date and time (1400 should be showing)
- click ‘request appointment’ and this will sent it through to us. (We’ve noticed a bug with iPhone users not sending through any notes directly attached to the appointment so please follow the next steps)
The page will then send you a message in messenger saying the request has been sent. Please then send a reply message giving the additional information required for example, PT numbers or if a handout one is required etc. If the booking is for a child, please give the additional information like name, age, PT number or if one is required. Please then send your payment via PayPal to [email protected]
It’s £10 for Adults, £5 for a Child (under 16) and if parent/guardian and child/children race together, each child is half price at £2.50.
