🏉 Sunday Skills Taking a Father's Day Break

This Sunday (21st), we'll be taking a short break from our Sunday Skills sessions so all our players, coaches and volunteers can spend some quality time on Father's Day.

Don't worry – we'll be back as normal on Sunday 28th, ready for more fun, learning and rugby!

Ponteland Rugby Club is very saddened to share the passing of Bill Roddham at the age of 61.

Bill played rugby at Ponteland in the late 80s and into the 90s even travelling back at weekends to play for the club after he had moved to York.

A formidable and very competitive second row forward, Bill was captain of the 2nd XV and played many games for the 1st XV; he also played for Ponteland Cricket Club where captained both the 1st XI and 2nd XI.

In addition to his busy life playing for Ponteland Cricket Club and Ponteland Rugby Club, Bill was also a very committed footballer, turning out on a Sunday morning for Matfen Football Club for many years, even though on most occasions his body was aching from the previous day’s rugby match.

Bill’s funeral will be held at York Crematorium, YO23 2QD on Thursday 18th June at 1.00pm.

The line-up for the League 2026/27 has been confirmed, and we can't wait to get back out there and compete against some fantastic clubs from across the region.

New challenges, old rivalries, big away days, and plenty of rugby to look forward to. The fixtures may still be to come, but the excitement is already building at Ponteland RFC.

We look forward to hosting the teams at Ponteland RFC and making the 2026/27 season one to remember.

Incredibly proud to recognise some of our volunteers from Ponteland RFC at the Northumberland RFU End of Season Celebration last week.

Congratulations to those who were recognised and attended - Emma Freer, Emma Twinning, Emily Robson, Neve Fisher, Amie Johnson, Jo Moller, Cheryl Strutt, and Jonathan Strutt - for the time, energy, and commitment they give week in, week out to make our club great.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of grassroots rugby - from running teams and supporting matchdays to the countless unseen hours that keep everything moving behind the scenes. This recognition is well deserved and we owe all of our volunteers here at Ponteland RFC a massive Thank You for everything they do for the club. 👏
