Ladies, this Backyard Ultra is for you too 💪🏃‍♀️

We know stepping onto a start line can sometimes feel intimidating, especially if you're new to ultra running or endurance events. That's why we've worked hard to create an event where everyone feels welcome, supported and comfortable.

✨ Female firstaider with the lovely Jen First Class Responders
✨ Female race director
✨ Over half the team that looks after you are female
✨ Free pre-race hair braiding available (and yes, long-haired men are welcome too!)
✨ A dedicated ladies' toilet, complete with sanitary products and disposal facilities
✨ Dedicated space for solo runners, so you don't need a big support crew to take part
✨ A hot water monitor keeping the kettle topped up, ready for your noodles, soup and hot drinks throughout the race.
✨ One of our previous winners was female .

Whether you're aiming for a PB, your first ultra distance, or simply curious about the Backyard format, you'll find a friendly community ready to cheer you on.

Backyard Ultras aren't about being the fastest—they're about seeing what you're capable of, one lap at a time.

Some of our Devon and Cornwall Alumni are hoping to take part but we need your help.....

🚨 **HELP TEAM ENGLAND GET TO THE FOUR NATIONS BACKYARD ULTRA** 🚨

On 20th June, Team England will compete in Northern Ireland against the strongest ultra runners from Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

This is one of the toughest endurance events in the world — where athletes run a 4.167-mile lap every hour until only one remains.

Some of our team have already completed 54+ hours and 225+ miles of continuous running.

But we need your help to get there.

We are raising £2,459 to cover essential costs including van hire, ferry, fuel, entry fees, and accommodation.

Many of our runners are from Plymouth and the South West, and some are on low incomes. Without support, England’s strongest athletes may not make the start line.

Yes this year you won't have Becky and the team shouting what's your number at you, or tracking you down to a sleeping tent as we worry we've not counted you in. Instead we will have a fancy timing system which links to an online system so people can track you through the night.. we always try to keep costs down to ensure as much money goes to the charity, however last year was a tad hard on our volunteer team and we know live timing is important... Only 40 places left and we've had over 10 come in this week so get your entries in quick.

Don't forget we also have the Friday evening shorter trail runs for your crew/friends/family.

We’ve got 𝟏𝟎 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 selected to represent England, ready to give everything on the world stage. The challenge? Getting the team, kit, and support crew across the Irish Sea is proving seriously expensive and logistically tricky.

Very exciting down in Portland Pig. Some of our East Cornwall Harriers friends are also there. Oli, Gareth, and Sarah and John are still moving. And our good friends Vic and Luke Carter who joined us one year are all still trooping along. Might be a long night tracking them. Luckily we have Chris on the ground updating is too .. We had a great day at the National Running Show 2026 last weekend and have to share this bit of kit we spotted. TrailKube is a natty invention to keep all your bits in order either for a crew to hand to you, or for a drop bag, or just easy access. It's got moveable dividers as well as 12 gel holders or electrolyte holders, plus an extra section to put your running vest in or that all important crew spreadsheet.. or just fill the bag with jam sandwiches.. plus the maker is a lovely chap called Owen who is also an ultra runner.

No affiliations just wanted to share something that might help you get even further this year.

And yes Becky bought one 🤣
