You might notice a new addition when looking at the course for club racing!

The boards on the side of the committee boat now have squares for port and triangles for starboard to help colour blind sailors.

Four young sailors take to the water, with blue skies and a gentle breeze providing perfect conditions.

Our Goslings crew continued to build their water confidence and practice their skills through a “follow the leader” exercise. Before the end of the session, everyone had attempted the standard capsize drill – brilliant to see their progress made.

The next Goslings OnBoard session will take place on 13th June, from 13:30 to 15:30pm.

If you like to find out more, speak to Gordy or the office to book a place.

Following the success of the inaugural event last year we will be once again running the “Alphabet Race”, on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday, 25th May.

The challenge is to sail round all the Grafham fixed marks, in Alphabetical order: there are 23 in total. Total course length is almost 34km.

Last year 17 boats took part and the winners, Will Smith and Jon Sweet, completed the course in 1 hr 37 minutes; next fastest time was Ali Reynolds on his foiling sailboard in just under 2 hours. Mark Aldridge was 2nd on handicap in his Dart 15. Start time is flexible: between 10:30 and 11:30: the full Notice of Race will be published shortly.

Will Russell made a short video from last years race in his RS600 to give you a taste of what it's like: https://youtu.be/7nCyAmehJRs?si=KeCaHFk_UqFMWyl_

Tuesday Group resumes 12th May!

As the start of the 2026 sailing season approaches, the Tuesday sailors are looking forward to relaunching for what promises to be another rewarding and enjoyable year.

Led by Laser sailors Karyna Manuel and Peter Gee, the group has been growing in numbers and in enthusiasm since its start. Running from May until September, the sessions are a chance for members to head out with a safety boat and a mentor to practise skills or just general sailing in a social group setting.

Over previous seasons, the development of the group has been fantastic to see. Sailors who started out feeling unsure have gone on to sail independently, while others have taken on new challenges - whether that's improving boat handling, gaining confidence in stronger winds or raising the spinnaker for the first time.

The group meets at 10:30 at the boat park on Tuesday mornings, rigged but not changed for a briefing on the forecast, conditions and the plans for the day. We tend to sail for around 1.5-2 hours, before heading in and meeting for packed lunch at the clubhouse.

We’re excited to welcome back familiar faces and encourage new members to come and have a go. Whether you’re keen to race in the future or just want to enjoy a casual sail with a good group of people, we hope to see you on the water!
