Strength training after 40 isn't damage control. It's the best return you'll get on an hour.
Here's the part nobody mentions. From your mid-thirties you lose muscle every year unless you're actively doing something about it. Slowly, quietly, without you noticing it happen.
You notice the result, though. The shopping feels heavier. The stairs become more of an event. You get up off the floor differently than you used to.
That isn't age. That's lost muscle — and it's the most reversible thing on the whole list.
Walking won't put it back. Neither will more cardio. Lifting will, and not much of it: two or three sessions a week, done consistently, is enough to claw back years of it.
We've got members in their sixties who are stronger now than they were at fifty. That's not a figure of speech, it's numbers on the board.
So it isn't too late. It's genuinely, measurably not too late.
