This weekend parkrun UK and junior parkrun UK will celebrate their one millionth parkrun event 😲🥳🤩🤗

Since parkrun began on that autumn morning in October 2004, over 8.3 million people have taken part in parkrun, and more than one million different people have volunteered 👷‍♂️👷🏼‍♀️👷🏾

That adds up to parkrunners crossing the finish line 138 million times, and more than 16 million volunteering moments helping to bring events to life each week ✨

Why not join us this Sunday to celebrate this momentous milestone of one million events!!! 🏅🏅🏅

Dukeries junior parkrun is free and fun for 4 to 14 year olds. Everyone is invited to walk, run or volunteer 🤗

Event #275…

A slightly chilly early morning gave way to another lovely warm one, as 18 juniors made their way round the course, along with numerous adults trying to keep up!

It was a first ever parkrun ⭐️1️⃣ for Reiner, a happy 5th birthday 🥳🎈to Emmy, and we had visitors from Warsop and all the way from Gloucester!

Freddie ran his 11th junior parkrun for a half marathon milestone and Isaac got to wear the one-of-a-kind SuperSash to celebrate his 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣th junior parkrun! 😀👍

There were also 3 fabulous PBs for Emilia, Larry and Jack 🎉

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome for my first time as Run Director, and to all the terrific volunteers who always help make the event run so smoothly! 🦺😀👍

A massive thank you to our volunteers 🧡

Since our event started in 2019, 2️⃣9️⃣2️⃣ valiant volunteers have enabled our 2️⃣7️⃣4️⃣ events 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️👷👏

They have supported 6️⃣3️⃣7️⃣ juniors and their families to enjoy a hop, skip, walk, jog or run a round our course , supporting their health and mental well-being
🏃‍♀️🏃🤸🏼‍♀️🚶🏼‍♀️🚶‍♂️👍

They've scanned 3️⃣4️⃣3️⃣9️⃣ finish tokens 📱😯

And enabled our juniors to achieve 2️⃣9️⃣2️⃣ personal best times 🏅🏅🏅

We're only a little junior parkrun event in comparison to others, but our motto has always been "if we build it, they will come", being there at 9am every Sunday rain or shine ☔🌞

We're so proud of our volunteers and our juniors who form part of our junior parkrun community 🤗

Six bright new high vis vests have arrived this week just in time for junior parkrun on Sunday 🦺🦺🦺🦺🦺🦺

If you've ever thought of volunteering, why not join us on Sunday and cheer on our juniors around our course? 👏👏👏

Volunteering at junior parkrun is so rewarding, knowing you're giving back to the community by supporting children from 4 to 14 years old to be healthy and active
🏃‍♀️🏃🤸🏼‍♀️🚶🏼‍♀️🚶‍♂️

No experience is necessary, we just ask that our volunteers are registered for a parkrun barcode number to add you on the roster for safeguarding, which only takes a few mins via our website 🤗

It's Volunteers' Week 👷🏻‍♀️👷‍♂️🤗

Our new Run Director, Richard, has it easy peasy this week as our awesome volunteers have already filled the roster for our compulsory roles, so he can sit back and relax and get ready to be a fab new host on Sunday 👷‍♂️🤩

We're so fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers supporting our event each week. They're a friendly bunch who just love supporting their community and get that warm fuzzy feeling every week knowing they are helping juniors have fun, be active and healthy 👷🏻‍♀️👷‍♂️🤗

We had some lovely feedback from yesterday's event to say that our new volunteers had a lovely time and we really appreciate them helping us out 🥰
