As the grassroots season starts this weekend, we’re excited for all of our junior teams to get playing again, and we’re trying something different to battle the never ending war of grass coverage at the BuckleyBrown Stadium, and we’re over seeding in season!

We put over 500kg of grass seed in the ground at the end of May, as well as a few hundred Kg in April, with la disappointing output. The pressures of a challenging schedule caused by the ever changing British Weather cannot be overstated.

When there’s barely any rain in the off season, it makes it incredibly difficult for many clubs to renovate their pitches and prepare them again for the coming season.

Last season we moved offsite for 6 weeks at this time of year when we over seeded, with the help of a few local clubs who accommodated our home fixtures so we could grow some grass!

This year, we’re staying put, and we’ve put 750kg of grass seed in the ground today, with optimal conditions, warm and wet!

Next week, there’ll be a 1000Kg of Fertiliser going down across all our pitches to give them the best chance of flourishing!

FT: Ollerton Town 2-1 Glapwell

A first three points of the season for the lads in front of a crowd of 130+

Player-manager Brad Wells headed us in front inside the 7th minute before a cross-cum-shot by Heath Stothers made it 2-0 on 15 minutes.

That looked like settling it but Glapwell scored a consolation in the 92nd minute, after Ollerton had seen a third goal ruled out for offside as well missing 2 or 3 further big chances.
