Elsie Coppins and Woodfield Alfie Secure National Championships Qualification at Parwood for the STX UK Pony British Novice Final

“We got Alfie as a 5 year old just over 2 years ago, but he unfortunately sustained a bad field injury not long after we got him and spent a year recovering. He’s now fully recovered, but it’s been a slow process, and he can still be quite green at times. I’m so happy with how Alfie jumped in all 3 rounds, as it was our first time at Parwood.” Elsie said.

British Showjumping is deeply saddened to learn Chief Stipendiary Steward John Taylor passed away on 16 June following a prolonged illness.

Former City of London Mounted Police Officer John was first a regular at British Showjumping shows driving and supporting his son Will – who competed at the prestigious London International Horse Show, Olympia, in the Young Showjumper Award – on John’s former police horse!

John himself was a competitor for the Police Force, where he affectionally earned the nickname ‘Boomer’ for his powerful, commanding voice and stentorian, resonant tones. All the top Mounted Police Departments ran shows and John competed at numerous shows in all types of competition; Best Trained, Showjumping and Tent Pe***ng, including the Services Jumping at HOYS.

British Showjumping would like to extend their condolences to John’s wife Liz, son Will and daughter Sarah and the grandchildren and those who worked with him.

He will be sadly missed by us all.

The iconic grounds of Hickstead provided a spectacular setting for the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round at the weekend, with riders enjoying the unique atmosphere of competing on Derby Day as they chased qualification opportunities for two of the sport's most prestigious championships.

Congratulations to Izac Ketteridge & Strawberries & Cream OS and Harry Bateman & Casablanca WW, who both qualified for the final at Horse of the Year Show

🏇 This week is , and this year's theme is Purposeful Play!

Making coaching fun is a key part of helping riders develop confidence, build skills and stay motivated. By incorporating purposeful play into coaching sessions, riders of all ages can learn, improve and enjoy their time in the saddle while staying engaged and encouraged every step of the way.

Whether you're introducing new exercises, creating exciting challenges or celebrating small successes, purposeful play can help create positive experiences that inspire a lifelong love of equestrian sport.

A huge thank you to all our coaches who continue to support, motivate and develop riders across the country. 👏
