Stour Sailing Club

Stour Sailing Club The Stour Sailing Club is a small, friendly club located on the banks of the River Stour in Manningt Manningtree is also on the doorstep of the Dedham Vale.

Manningtree and the Stour Sailing Club make an great base for the many waterborne interests its members are active in. From competitive sailboat racing and multi oar Rowing in Skiffs, to gentle cruising in both power and sailing boats - we have an active fishing section and a good number of canoeists! Dinghies and canoes can be kept just a few metres from the water and we have 140 tidal mooring w

ithin an easy row of our Quaysides - what could be better! Visitors are welcome and increasing year on year as they get to know about this small attractive town that has all you need close at hand, including pubs, restaurants, shops, banks and a train service to London. Those who sail into Mistley but then go the extra half mile to Manningtree will find 3 visitors moorings or short-term quayside berth, and a warm welcome at the clubhouse. Above Manningtree the river becomes non-tidal. A small craft such as a canoe can reach Sudbury, about 30 miles further inland. The Stour Sailing Club is a great club to join so don't hesitate to get in touch if you have an interest - 01206 393924

We have just taken the really difficult decision to cancel the Regatta Fireworks set for this evening due to the drought conditions and general concerns about fire risks.

We are really grateful to Dynamic Fireworks for being so understanding and enabling us to rearrange the firework display to a later date.

There are now less than two weeks until Regatta, and we are counting down the days.

The first record of a Fireworks Display at Regatta is from1846, and the Regatta Fireworks are a traditional part of the event.

The Fireworks are free to the Public and and they display will start at approximately 9.30 PM on Saturday 1st August - (as soon as it is dark enough). The Display is set from the end of the Hard opposite the Sailing Club at low water, with a great view from the Town Beach and the Walls.

The Club's traditional Starting Guns will be in use on both days for the time signals, starts and finishes of the Sailing Races. Please be aware that they are Loud (but short lived). There will be a countdown over the PA system prior to signals.

Approximate timings are in the outline programme for those who would prefer to avoid.

The Outline Programme and timings for events are as below:
