πŸ™ We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of William (Billy) Smyth, a former Upperlands manager and a truly integral and respected member of the community.
Billy gave so much of his time, energy, and passion to those around him.

His commitment, leadership, and quiet dedication made a lasting impact, and he was someone who was always held in the highest regard by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was more than just a familiar face β€” he was part of the fabric of the community, someone whose presence brought people together and whose influence will not be forgotten. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched over the years.
Billy will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him.

Everyone associated with Upperlands Football Club extends their thoughts and deepest condolences to his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. πŸ™

Upperlands FC 4 πŸ†š 0 Killowen FC

Upperlands FC produced a dominant second-half display to secure an emphatic 4-0 victory over Killowen FC. 🟠

Despite controlling much of the first half and constantly knocking on the door, Upperlands were unable to convert the numerous chances they created before the break. 🟠

The breakthrough finally came in the 52nd minute. πŸ•’πŸŸ  A superb pass from Aaron Crooks split the defence and found Scott Bradley, who unselfishly teed up Michael Stewart to fire home his first goal since returning to the club. ⚽️🟠

Midway through the second half, Upperlands struck again. 🟠 Luke Francis played a perfectly weighted ball into Michael Stewart, who showed great composure to finish calmly and double both his tally and the team’s lead. ⚽️🟠

Dylan Wilson, fresh off a Man of the Match performance last week, continued his fine form with a driving run that caused problems for the Killowen defence. 🟠 His excellent work set up Michael Stewart once more, who made no mistake in completing a superb hat-trick to put the game beyond doubt at 3-0. 🎩⚽️🟠

Substitute David Nelson added another to the scoreline, finishing clinically from a tight angle to make it 4-0 shortly after coming off the bench. ⚽️🟠

🟠 Match Report 🟠

Garvagh 1 – 1 Upperlands
League Match

A hard-fought league encounter saw Upperlands come away with a point after a tight and competitive game 🟠

The opening stages were cagey, with both sides battling for control. The breakthrough came in the 19th minute when Upperlands were awarded a penalty after a Garvagh defender handled the ball in the box. Luke Francis stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, continuing his fine scoring form 🟠⚽

Garvagh responded well and found an equaliser in the 31st minute, sending the teams in level at the break.

The second half was a real test defensively, with Upperlands showing great organisation and commitment at the back 🟠πŸ’ͺ

The visitors were unlucky not to grab a winner when Dylan Wilson’s superb long-range effort crashed back off the crossbar.

Both teams gave everything, and in the end a draw was a fair reflection of a very competitive match 🀝

We’d like to wish Garvagh the very best for the rest of the season 🟠

🟠 Goalscorer:
⚽ Luke Francis

🟠 Man of the Match (Shared):
πŸ† Dylan Wilson – A spirited performance, followed instructions superbly and left everything on the pitch.

πŸ† Thomas Ewing – A solid and composed display, dealing excellently with Garvagh’s tricky wingers.
Well done to both players πŸ‘πŸŸ

Ballybrakes United 4–2 Upperlands FC

In cold conditions, Upperlands travelled to the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre to take on a strong Ballybrakes side in the cup.

Upperlands started brightly, but it was Ballybrakes who opened the scoring on 33 minutes.

The response was quick, with Luke Francis calmly converting from the spot on 37 minutes to level the game.

Ballybrakes then struck twice in quick succession before the break to take a 3–1 lead into half-time.

Upperlands came out fighting in the second half, and Luke Francis pulled one back with a fine finish β€” his 22nd goal of the season πŸ‘βš½οΈ

Despite a spirited performance and plenty of effort throughout the second half, Upperlands couldn’t find the equaliser.

Ballybrakes sealed the game with a fourth goal in the 86th minute and progressed to the next round.

Our man of the match was Luke Francis who added another 2 goals to his impressive tally for the season.

πŸ‘ Thanks to all the away fans who made the trip and showed great support.

🀝 Best of luck to Ballybrakes United in the next round of the cup.
