My Top 10 coaching and guiding tips for working outdoors in a heatwave 🥵☀️
What do I do to look after my clients?
1. Carefully consider route & location
Try and stay in the shade for as long as possible. 🌲🌳
2. Encourage clients to opt for early morning starts. 🌅
3. Hydration, hydration, hydration plus electrolytes 💧💧
4. Carefully pace uphill pedalling, set a very steady pace - no sprinting. Tortoise style 🐢 for the win! 🥇
5. If hire bikes are required, see it as a great opportunity to try an e-bike! ⚡️🚴♀️
6. Rest often and model drinking and snacking, in the shade of course! 😴🌳
7. Remember, clients will be working much harder than you in a coaching session!
8. Wear sunglasses and carry sunscreen, lip balm with SPF and / or long sleeves to prevent burning. I use a natural suncream that doesn’t sting eyes when it inevitably runs down face! 🥵🕶️
9. Enjoy the dry, dusty trails but remember loose dust and gravelly trails can be as slippery as mud! Check tires and tire pressures!
10. After session - swim in cold river/ lake/ sea, ice cream, iced coffee or cold b**r is definitely recommended!!
