SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND? 🎣😂

We’ve been having a bit of a rummage around the shop and decided it’s time some of this tackle found a new home.

There’s all sorts in the clearance boxes. Lures, soft plastics, feathers and a few other bits and pieces.

Some decent bargains if you fancy a rummage yourself.

🎣 Feathers – £1 each or 10 for a fiver.

🎣 Remaining Sufix braid (excluding 131) – HALF the marked price.

🎣 Other clearance tackle…open to sensible offers.

And when I say sensible, turning up with £2 and a packet of Hobnobs probably won’t cut it. 😂

Pop in and have a look. You never know what you’ll find.

Had some good reports of these doing the business for bass & pollack locally.

FISHING. MAY 1980. 🎣

Funny how a few old bits of tackle can take you straight back.

A Daiwa reel. Black Seal line for 45p. The old blue tackle box and a fishing magazine for 50p.

No internet. No weather apps. No YouTube showing you how to tie a rig. You learned from your dad, your mates, the bloke in the tackle shop… and quite often by getting it completely wrong yourself. 😂

Pack a flask, make some sandwiches and go fishing.

The gear has changed a fair bit in 46 years.

I’m not sure the important bits have.

Who else remembers fishing like this?

Doors open. Tackle everywhere. Bait in the fridge.

More importantly, kettle on. ☕😂

And somewhere in amongst it all, a bit of work gets done.

THE UNWRITTEN RULES OF FISHING 🎣

Funny old thing, fishing. Nobody ever sits you down and tells you the rules.

Not the proper ones. The other ones.

Give the next angler a bit of room. Take your rubbish home. Don’t give away someone else’s mark. If your mate hooks a monster, grab the net before your phone. 😂

Most of us just pick these things up as we go along.

I did learn fairly early on that any fish you caught years ago is allowed to grow about an inch a year. Nobody knows why. That’s just fishing. 😆

You can only fish ONE of them for the rest of your life.

The other three? Gone. Banished.

No “depends on the tide”, no “depends what I’m fishing for”, and certainly no sitting on the fence like a sensible adult. 😂

Good morning fellow danglers, our fresh dug ragworm is due to arrive after 2pm this afternoon.

Stock up on the frozen razor clams, black lug and muscles. Loads of frozen baits available.

We have a few deals in the shop ongoing at the moment, 1/3rd off all slow jigging rods and reels, all remaining Sufix braid ( except Sufix 131) is now half price...Deals to be had on various soft plastics and metal jigs, any remaining luggage 50% off!

THE FISHING MATE TEST 🎣

Your mate hooks what is clearly the fish of his life.

Rod’s bent double.

He’s panicking and you’re stood right next to him.

What’s the first thing you do?

A) Grab the net. Obviously.

B) Get your phone out. This needs filming.

C) Stand behind him shouting things like “KEEP THE LINE TIGHT!” despite being absolutely no help whatsoever.

D) Quietly hope it comes off because you’ve blanked all day. 😂
