True Heroes Racing

True Heroes Racing Supporting Active and Inactive, Wounded, Injured & Sick UK Service Personnel and Veterans. Engage, Empower, Inspire. More than just a race team!

True Heroes Racing is the brain child of a serving member of the Royal Navy who has been lucky enough to return from several Tours of Duty in Afghanistan uninjured. After working with a large number of injured UK Service personnel on motorsport charity events it was decided to try and use competitive motorsport as a way of restoring a sense of direction and focus for our injured UK Service personnel and in 2012 “True Heroes Racing” was formed.

🏁 True Heroes Racing are returning to Knockhill Racing Circuit! 🏁

We’re thrilled to be returning to Knockhill on Friday 19th June for the next round of the British Superbike Championship — our first time back since 2017. The whole team can’t wait for a fantastic weekend on Scottish soil.

Four riders will be flying the flag this round — #89 Paul Cunvin in the Pirelli National Superstock, alongside #50 Leon Wilton, #812 Chris Duggan and #34 Kenny Macleod in the BMW F900R Cup.

It’s an especially meaningful round for Kenny, with Knockhill being the closest thing to a home race for our Stornoway rider.

#44 Charlie White, is recovering well and hoping to be back on track soon.

To all our supporters, we really appreciate you. Your support makes a huge difference and we’d love for you to come by the garage, say hello, meet the team and be part of the weekend with us.

A special moment for our team yesterday. Our Founder and Team Principal, Phil, was again invited to The Chelsea Pensioners Founders Day — a tradition steeped in service, respect and history.
The Chelsea Pensioners represent more than three centuries of military heritage. Since the Royal Hospital Chelsea was founded by King Charles II in 1682, it has stood as a home and community for veterans who dedicated their lives to serving our country. The Pensioners embody resilience, loyalty and the enduring spirit of those who have worn the uniform.
Being welcomed into their annual Founders Day celebration is a genuine honour. We’re deeply grateful for the invitation and proud of the bond we continue to build with the Chelsea Pensioners. Their legacy, camaraderie and unwavering sense of duty inspire everything we do at True Heroes Racing.

Engage. Empower. Inspire

A very special thank you from all of us at True Heroes Racing
We were deeply moved to receive a generous donation towards our Fireblade rebuild, given in loving memory of William Samuel Sidney Hickenbotham — ‘Sid’.
Born 07.03.1921, Sid served our country with honour on HMS Dragon, HMS Penelope, HMS Moon and HMS Astrid, spending much of his service based in Portsmouth. A life defined by courage, resilience and dedication.
Following Charlie White #44’s Fireblade crash at Oulton Park earlier this year, this support couldn’t be more important. Raising the funds needed to rebuild the bike is a major challenge — and donations like this directly help us continue offering something far bigger than racing.
We are especially touched that Sid’s granddaughter Claire, chose our cause for this donation. Her decision helps us provide our beneficiaries with an escape, a purpose, a place to belong and the camaraderie that only a team like ours can offer. Sid’s legacy now becomes part of that mission.
From everyone at True Heroes Racing thank you.

Great effort, for a great cause, by one of our top sponsors.

Over £5,000 has been raised for during The 38.

Every mile, every donation, and every message of support has gone towards something bigger - helping fund vital mental health support and community programmes for veterans.

It genuinely means a lot to see so many people get behind this. Whether you donated, shared it, or just followed along, you’ve played a part in making a real difference.

And we’re not stopping here - this is only the beginning.

The JustGiving page is still live, link is in the comments if you’d like to support.

Thank you to Gr***de for fuelling our runners, and to New Balance Running for providing the kit!

Last weekend at Donington Park was a significant milestone for both Chris and True Heroes Racing, but do you understand why?

It signified the culmination of almost 6 years hard work, particularly for Chris.

With the support of the whole team he's gone from his first ever trackday at Brands Hatch in early 2020, to gaining his ACU race licence later that same year, competing in several years of club racing at circuits across the UK with the NG Road Racing club, including loosing his novice racer bib and now completing his first ever race event at a National level at the British Superbike Championship.

Through the attached images, from across the last 6 years, you can see some of that journey.

For True Heroes Racing it meant the culmination of our inugural Grassroots Rider Program beneficiary's journey and proof of concept that again we can take someone with challenges and achieve the aim.

This little Not-For-Profit organisation has once again proven (as our slogans say) we are "More Than Just A Race Team" and with Chris and through his achievements we again "Engage. Empower. Inspire." others to achieve the things they were told, or thought, were impossible.

If you want to help us with enabling more beneficiaries from the UK Armed Forces and Veteran communities to achieve their goals, both on and off the track; or are, or know, someone who might benefit from getting directly involved with us in any role; please reach out and contact us either via direct messenger on social media or via email at: [email protected]

Last weekend at Donington Park BSB wasn't just significant for our achievements on track, but it also showed an example of our off-track support activities.

As we have done, pretty much since day 1, we hosted UK Armed Forces patients and staff from the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) as our guests. Not only providing them a top quality day out, but also showing them first-hand just what is possible post injury. Supporting these individuals is one of our key objectives and with our long-standing partnership with the DMRC Benevolent Fund this is possible.

Yes, there was added significance last weekend in that Chris was a previous patient at DMRC Stanford Hall and it was them who actually put him forward to join our Grassroots Rider Development Program. So it was great for them to see how far he's come and to bear witness to his first races at a National level.
