🏏 Preview: Women’s Soft Ball Cricket Final 🏆🏏
An exciting day in prospect at the SCG tomorrow, as our Women’s Soft Ball Cricket Team host Grantham in the final of the Lincolnshire County Cricket Women’s Soft Ball Cricket final from 12.30pm.

Having qualified for the final by topping Division 1 North of the competition, garnering 22 points from their eight matches, our ladies are in their third final in three years and are aiming to retain the title for a third year in a row.

Captain Jenna Scully will lead out a strong side tomorrow, with just one change from the last match played as hard-hitting All Rounder Helen Plaskett comes back into an otherwise unchanged side.

We’re hoping the rain stays away and we get to see a great and competitive final tomorrow lunchtime and hopefully we’ll have a big crowd down supporting the team.
The Saxilby Sport Hub will be open, so please pop down, grab a drink and cheer them on! 🙌

Good luck to the squad, hopefully you’ll have some silverware in your hands tomorrow afternoon 🤞🏆

We’ve taken the 80s trend to the cricket pitch… and we’re not sure the neon, leg warmers and big hair are doing us any favours! 😂

A solid and professional win for our Men’s Sunday side yesterday, as they beat Lindum 2nds by 70 runs on an oppressively humid afternoon at the SCG.

After winning the toss and batting first, the innings got off to a great start, with a 101-run partnership between Ed Brook (62) and Colin Green (53).
That partnership laid the platform for a rapid 62 from 34 balls from Vrishin ‘Dags’ Dagar during an 88-run partnership with Colin.
At the end of our 40 overs, we’d posted a great 230/6, which felt like a good score in the conditions.

The defence of the target got off to a steady start, with tight bowling in the first 10 overs without a breakthrough as Lindum progressed serenely to 66/0 from 16 overs.
However, the game changed and was arguably won in the 16th and 17th overs with two wickets falling in each of them as Harvey Melladay (2/34) and Dags (2/15) took vital wickets to stop the chase in its tracks.
Another three wickets would fall as Lindum dug in solidly to bat out their 40 overs, eventually reaching 160/7.

A good and much-needed win for the side as they head rapidly towards the end of the season, with just three matches left to be played, starting next week as we welcome Heighington to the SCG on Sunday.

🏏 Preview 🏏
The start of the ‘run-in’ for our Sunday side tomorrow as they welcome Lindum Cricket Club 2nds to the SCG, for the first of three home games in three weeks.

It’s been a stop-start few weeks for this side, with only one game taking place over the last six weeks, but they now have four games in consecutive weeks to round out what’s been a frustrating season for the team.

Five changes to the side that lost at Reepham two weeks ago, as bowlers Chibi Anandarajah and Harvey Melladay strengthen the attack, while opening batsman Colin Green and middle-order bat Ollie Wright come back into the lineup along with a welcome return for regular wicketkeeper Liam Scully.

It looks like it’s going to be a sunny afternoon for this game that starts at 1pm, so hopefully we’ll see a big crowd down supporting the guys 🤞

Saxilby CC Milestone Moment: Ed Brook, 1000 career runs! 🙌🎉
The first in a new feature for the club, celebrating the individual achievements of our players as they hit career milestones.
First up, opening batsman Ed Brook, who hit his 1000th career run during our match away at Reepham on Sunday afternoon.

Ed’s been an ever-present at the club since we restarted and has become a permanent feature at the top of the order, taking on the opening bowlers every week and seeing off the new ball.

Congratulations to Ed on this milestone, we look forward to many more runs over the next few seasons. 🤞
