An IRONMAN isn't just a training challenge.
3.8km swim.
180km bike.
42.2km run.
Getting Taylor successfully to the finish line of IRONMAN Tallinn involved far more than simply putting in the miles.
🥯 Carb loading before the race
⚡ Fuelling for 12+ hours of exercise
💧 Adapting hydration to the weather
🌧️ Changing the race strategy when conditions changed
🏃 Managing niggles throughout the training block
📉 Tapering at the right time
💪 And, importantly, giving the body time to recover afterwards
His journey also gave us a great comparison between racing Eastbourne in 27°C heat and facing the cooler, wet and windy conditions of Tallinn.
Same athlete. Very different conditions. Very different strategy.
