Last league game of the season saw Kilwinning Rangers FC Under 20s take on Ardrossan Winton Rovers Under 20's Development Team at Winton Park on another miserable rainy night.
With a slight tweak to the formation for Buffs the game kicks off. 6 minutes in and Buffs get a free kick 18 yards out. Kiegan whips it in and Cobi headers it in to make it 0-1 Buffs.

Within 2 minutes Winton are awarded a penalty when their player was judged to have been tripped in the box. Oli Halliday steps up to convert from the spot. Winton 1 Buffs 1 Game On
A couple of chances fall to both teams and what looked like a stone wall penalty on Ewan McKinlay but the referee calls no foul.
75 minutes and last sub for Buffs and Euan on for Alfie. 80 minutes on the clock and Buffs lose the ball 40 yards out with slack defending, ball moves to Winton player Oli Halliday 35 yards out who strikes the shot past Ellis to make it 2-1 Winton. Buffs push for the equaliser but it never arrived.

Kilwinning Rangers FC Under 20s last home league game of the season seen us take on unbeaten league Champions Troon F.C. Development Team on for once a calm night.
It was always going to be a tough game versus Troon but 8 minutes in Buffs Jacob Bysouth over extended his knee and had to come off. With Alan McMillan coming on for Jacob. Buffs really struggling to string passes together but it was Troons Clayton Hood on 21 minutes who scored first from a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner of the Goal and 0-1 Troon. Buffs were struggling yo get any sort of rhythm going then on 38 minutes Adam McNally muscles in a header that loops in under the bar to make it 0-2 Troon.
HALF-TIME BUFFS 0 TROON 2
Ben Coutts on for Ellis.
Troon on the front foot from the off and it was poor marking from Buffs that saw Troons Gavin Friels who finishes to make it 0-3 Troon.
Then 5 minutes later Kiegan Bradford is brought down in the box and penalty awarded. Kiegan converts to make it Buffs 1 Troon 3.
Buffs had a little belief but again Troon steal possession just outside our penalty box on 69 minutes and Troons Danny Risk converts to make it Buffs 1 Troon 4. Substitution: Euan off Josh on. Then 3 more subs on 74 minutes Calvin off Aaron Todd on and Lewis Graham off Alfie Walker on. Almost immediately more slack marking and defending see Troons Clayton Hood to finish off to make it Buffs1 Troon 5. More huffing n puffing but Buffs see the remainder of the game and
Full-time Buffs 1 Troon 5
Well done Troon on winning the league unbeaten 👏🏻
Next up for us and last league fixture of the season sees Buffs travel to Ardrossan Winton Rovers on Friday night.

Another windy n rainy night down at the Ian Cashmore snr Astro saw Kilwinning Rangers FC Under 20s take on 4th placed Bonnyton Thistle U20s in game number 16 in the WoSFDLeague and Gavin Friels 1st game in charge as the new U20s manager.
Bonnyton were fastest out the traps when on 6 minutes they break down the right to cross and find the unmarked player at the back post who cuts the ball back for Bonnyton no.6 to finish into the the roof of the net. 0-1 Bonnyton.
Time to roll the sleeves up and it was on 12 minutes where Andy headers the ball to Lewis Graham, who passes the ball left to Calvin, who passes to Cobi, who passes back to L.G. who continued his run into the box, opens his body up and curls the ball right footed into the back post and Buffs 1 Bonnyton 1 and game on.
More shots from both teams but it was on 35 minutes when Calvin curls in the free kick and the ball is flicked onto Max Strain at the back post who floats the ball back in and deflects into the net Buffs 2 Bonnyton 1
More shots and strong defending from both teams HALF-TIME Buffs 2 Bonnyton 1
Bonnyton take centre but on 50 minutes Buffs Kiegan Bradford swings in a cross, Max flicks on for L.G. to come in at the back post and slot the ball home to make it Buffs 3 Bonnyton 1

Another cold and breezy night saw Kilwinning Rangers FC Under 20s take on Troon F.C. Development Team in the Robbie Mieklem Memorial Cup and what was Manager Dylan Mackin last game in charge as manager, as he is moving up to the 1st team coaching staff.
The game gets off to a slow start but it was Troon that scored first when a corner is mis judged and Troons Fraser Boyd taps in to make it 0-1 Troon. The game then becomes a bit scrappy and Buffs failing to string passes together and looking nervy when in possession. Hoping to get into half time to regroup but on 45 minutes Troon put together a good passage of play and with Buffs failing to match the movement, Troons Clayton Hood finishes from 12 yards to make it Half Time and 0-2 Troon.
No changes at half time and time to try to be more composed on the ball. But again some slack marking at a corner from Buffs see Troon get goal no.3 on 58 minutes to make it 0-3 Troon. Time to make a formation change which sees young Danny McBlane replaced by Alfie Ashmead. But again more slack play from Buffs sees Troon extend their lead to 4 when on 63 minutes Troons no.6 scores. 0-4 Troon
Some biblical weather ensues and on 68 minutes Troon extend their lead to 5 when Troon Substitute scores on 68 minutes. 0-5 Troon. 4 Substitutions from Buffs sees Cobi Rose, Lucas McDonald, Andrew Coleman and David Kirkwood replaced by Alfie Walker, Euan Kolankaya, Alan McMillan and Jacob Bysouth.
Buffs did start to create some half chances with the fresh legs on but again poor decision making allows Troons Clayton Hood to steal the ball and drive clear and d**k the ball over Ellis to make it 0-6 Troon
Full Time Buffs 0-6 Troon
Not a good night at the office but plenty to learn from with alot of the team being U17s & U18s, which I'm sure they will learn from and help their development.
Next up is Bonnyton Thistle in the league at home.
Everyone at the 20s would like to wish Dylan all the best in his new challenge at the 1st team

21/03/2026

Kilwinning Rangers FC Under 20s Friday night fixture saw them take on unbeaten Stirling University in the 1/4 final of the Parks Motor Group Scottish Lowland Challenge Cup in the hope to extend their 15 game unbeaten run.
Prior to kick-off both teams observed a minutes silence to pay our respects for the very sad passing of Jim Fleeting. A Legend in our game and life and much a loved gentleman, loved by thousands. 💙R.I.P. Jim💙
Buffs start and keep to their usual formation and game plan but 5 minutes in sees a slack pass out from the back with the Stirling player intercept and play in the Stirling no.10 to slot the ball by Ellis and make it Buffs 0 Stirling 1.
Time to roll our sleeves up and show more composure on the ball and to try and counter Stirlings long ball. Ellis pulling off 2 good saves from a 1v1. Then on 25 minutes and a good pattern of play sees Ewan McKinlay set up Cobi Rose to score his 11th goal in 4 games and make it Buffs 1 Stirling 1
Another good save from Ellis just before minute 37 when Buffs take a throw in and move the ball between 3,4,5 and 6 players with Lewis McGowan flighting the ball to the back post for Cobi Rose to finish with a header and make it 2-1 Buffs. Buffs were playing the ball around well and dealing well with Stirlings long ball approach. Half Time arrives and its 2-1 Buffs.
No changes and the 2nd half kicks off. A couple of half chances falling to Buffs but bad decision making keeps the score at 2-1. Then on 55 minutes sees Buffs with a slack / rushed throw-in giving away possession,Stirling break into the box and their no.11 finishes well to make it 2-2 and game on. Forced substitution see Alfie Ashmead replace the Injured Lewis McGowan. More 1/2 chances falling to both teams then on 71 minutes a Long ball over the top deceives the defence and Stirling no.9 breaks and burys the ball to make it 2-3 Stirling. 5 minutes later on 76 minutes and an almost identical long ball over sees the Stirling no.10 break and finish to make it 2-4 Stirling. Next sub for Buffs sees Danny McBlane replace Ewan McKinlay. Then on 80 minutes Buffs give away a foul 20 yards out at the angle and Brad gets a yellow and subsequently a 2nd yellow and red for dissent 🟥 and Buffs are down to 10 men. The Stirling no.11 deceives everyone and shoots straight through everyone and into the net to make it 2-5 Stirling. Then on 81 minutes another set piece and Stirlings big no.3 rises unchallenged and buries a great looping header in at the back post to make it 2-6 Stirling.
Final score and definitely a game of 2 halves Buffs 2 Stirling University 6
We dust ourselves down, take our medicine and move onto our next fixture which is home to Troon FC in the Robbie Mieklem Cup.
