This week at Kilsyth Runners 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Tuesday – Medical Centre

18:10 – Beginners & 5K group
Our beginners are moving onto 1-minute easy-paced intervals this week.

Missed week 1? No problem! Jump in this week and we’ll get you up to speed.

18:50 – 5 mile social group
A relaxed social run for those looking to get a few more miles in with the club.

Saturday – Balmalloch MUGA

08:30 – Beginners
09:00 – All abilities track session

And one thing really stuck with me from last week.

I heard on a few occasions:

“I’ve been wanting to join for ages… I don’t know why I didn’t.”

Honestly, don’t overthink it.

Don’t sit on the outside watching everyone else achieve their running goals.

Get involved. Meet people. Run with us. Improve together.

You don’t need to be fast. You don’t need to be experienced. You just need to turn up.

Come and give Kilsyth Runners a go this week.

TOMORROW’S SESSION — ACCESS REMINDER

Tomorrow we have:

🏃 Beginners — 8:30am
🏃 All Abilities Track Session — 9:00am

Both sessions will be at Balmalloch Primary School MUGA track.

⚠️ IMPORTANT — Highland Park car park is off limits due to drainage works. Please do not park in the car park and instead park responsibly in the surrounding streets.

Access to the track:
➡️ Enter via the path to the south of the school, off the Kingsway
➡️ Turn right at the stairs
➡️ Follow the path alongside the nursery up to the track

There’s a short video showing the route for anyone who isn’t familiar with the access.

The alternative route does add a few minutes to the walk, so please allow a little extra time and don’t leave it until the last minute!

See you all in the morning 👊

Thanks to everyone who came along tonight across all three sessions — beginners, 5K and the 5-ish miler.

Hopefully all the newcomers got a feel for what Kilsyth Runners is about and, more importantly, enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to coming back for the next run.

If you’re new to the club and would like to join us, just message the club with your email address and we’ll send over our joining instructions.

And if you’ve got any questions at all, just get in touch.

Great to have you all along tonight!

And finally… apologies to the first two groups — I’m clearly rubbish at this social media lark and completely forgot to get a team photo! 🤦‍♂️😂

This week at Kilsyth Runners 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A big week for the club as our new Beginners Block starts on Tuesday!

🔴 Tuesday — Beginners | 18:10
📍 Kilsyth Medical Centre

Starting with just 30-second easy running intervals, we’ll gradually build you up to running continuously for 5, 10, 20 minutes and beyond.

No pace expectations. No need to already be “a runner”. That’s literally what the block is for.

Can’t make Tuesday? We’ll repeat the session:

🔴 Saturday — Beginners | 08:30
📍 Balmalloch MUGA

Our usual sessions continue too:

TUESDAY
🏃 18:10 — 5K group run
🏃 18:50 — 5-ish mile group run

SATURDAY
🏃 09:00 — Track session
📍 Balmalloch MUGA

And one last thing…

We regularly hear from people who worry they’re “too slow” for the group runs.

If everyone who felt like that came along, they’d probably make up the biggest group in the club.

It’s your club.

Come along. Take part. And help us build the groups you need it to be for you. ❤️

This week at Kilsyth Runners 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A Bobless Tuesday this week as he continues his firefighter training 🚒 — but the runs continue as normal!

📍 Tuesday – Kilsyth Medical Centre

18:10 – Social-paced 5k
All abilities welcome, with shorter options available.

18:50 – Chatty 5 miler
Easy miles, plenty of stops and even more chat.

📍 Saturday – Balmalloch MUGA Track

9:00am – Saturday morning session
This will still be on despite a number of our runners taking part in the Tom Robb Memorial Road Race. Please let Bob know if you’re coming along.

BEGINNERS GROUP – STARTING NEXT WEEK

Our next beginners group starts Tuesday 25th August at 18:10.

If you’ve been thinking about giving running a go, this is your chance. We’ll put up a separate post with all the details very soon.

Tuesday
No organised club run this week as we hold our first AGM as a scottishathletics affiliated club 🎉

A wee milestone for the club and a chance to look at where we’ve come from, where we’re going next and let members have their say.

Saturday – 9am | Balmalloch MUGA
Back to the running with an all-abilities track session.

Timed intervals, so everyone works to their own pace and ability…

…or slightly faster if Bob thinks you’re at it 😜

Everyone welcome. ❤️

The reward for last night’s run?

A weather window, some class views… and cold drinks from the shop afterwards. ☀️🥤

It’s the sort of route most of us would never choose to tackle alone.

Together though? We get it done.

That’s what a good running club is all about.
