🏏 Match Report | Greenock CC vs Helensburgh CC 1XI
A superb all-round performance saw Helensburgh 1XI claim an impressive 43-run victory over Greenock in WDCU Premiership 2.
Batting first, Helensburgh posted 153 all out from 39.5 overs. The innings was built around valuable contributions from Gregor Chambers (KC Sport Management), who top-scored with 32, Edward Williamson (Commercial Components Portsmouth Ltd) with 30, and Hasan Ahmad, who made an assured 22 at the top of the order. Useful lower-order runs helped push the visitors to a competitive total.
In reply, Greenock were restricted to 110 all out in 30.3 overs thanks to a disciplined bowling and fielding display. Freddie Parffrey (Al Minnis Whisky) led the attack superbly, claiming 3 wickets for 29 runs from his 8 overs. There were also excellent spells from David Wynne (Black Sails Tattoo Studio), who took 2 for 24, and Thomas Burford with 2 for 10, while Cory Baker struck twice in just three deliveries to help wrap up the innings.

🏏 Match Report | Ardencaple CC vs Torrance House East Kilbride
A spirited performance from Ardencaple CC saw them fall just short against Torrance House East Kilbride, losing by 13 runs in WDCU Championship 4. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from an encouraging display.
Chasing 178 for victory, Ardencaple finished on 164 for 9 from their 40 overs, battling all the way to the final ball. Peter Deeks led the scoring with an excellent 48, narrowly missing out on a deserved half-century. He was well supported by Thanuka Jayashantha (Coates Communications), who struck an aggressive 33, including two fours and two sixes, while Syed Ishtiaq contributed a valuable 22 in the middle order.
Earlier in the day, Ardencaple's bowlers had done an excellent job to restrict East Kilbride to 177 all out. The standout performers were Syed Ishtiaq and Jerry Smith (Neil Crawford & Sons Ltd) , who both claimed 3 wickets, with figures of 3 for 38 and 3 for 31 respectively. Richard Cole (Paragon Investment Management) also impressed with a miserly spell of 2 for 25 from his eight overs.
While the result didn't go Ardencaple's way, it was a competitive and determined performance against strong opposition. Pushing the game deep into the chase and showing resilience with both bat and ball gives the 2XI plenty of confidence heading into the weeks ahead. The 1st XI travel to face Mearns (being played in Stirling), looking to build on an impressive home victory over Hillhead. There is a welcome boost for the side with Freddie Parffrey returning from injury, adding further strength to a confident squad. The team know they face another tough challenge, but spirits are high and the boys are looking forward to a battle on the road.

The 2nd XI return to home action this weekend as they take on Kelburne. The exciting news is a return to cricket for Pete Deeks, who will be looking to make an impact at the top of the order, supported by a strong squad, which made team selection a difficult task. The side is packed with young talent, with several junior players earning opportunities in senior cricket.
