Our sessions started in 2013 and are still going strong today. Our Street Futsal sessions are in place to help develop the technical side of young players as well as instill confidence and long lasting love for sport. We want our players to show off their skills in game and create street combos in practice to help create high confidence on the ball. What is Street Futsal? Street Futsal is a style of Football that demands precision, agility, and creativity in an environment where skills and extensive foot work is required. This free-style game challenges players to use strength and strategy in an unconventional way. The term street football emerged from playing Football on the street, where many of the best Football players around the world got their start. Nowadays, the street concept applies more as an informal game style rather than playing on a street. Its of the most basic set up involving a ball, a playing area with goals or items such as clothing used for goals, it may be hard court, grass, or 3g no matter the conditions (court, ball or goals) play will happen. A variety of games either scoring or non-scoring can be organised under street play. It’s focus is on fast-paced games on short space with skill moves, respecting the fair play of the game. With our Street Futsal and Football programme we run sessions on hard court, grass, artificial grass and concrete where players will try to put certain skills into the game. We use a variety of balls and have a skills programme that has every skill you can think of but it has a real emphasis on being creative as well as trying outrageous skills. Advantages of Street Futsal and Football
It allows players to play and make quick decisions without continuous interruptions. Players learn very quickly that making a mistake is no issue meaning they play with no fear. Due to the size of the field and the numbers of players playing there are many opportunities for ball contact. Players learn to use their skills quickly and learn when they need to sue a team mate. Our Street Futsal provides many benefits to young players. Firstly, players improve their on the ball skills, shooting, dribbling, and passing techniques. The players need to play and think very quickly on our small courts/pitches. Players dont have positions so they cannot be the goal scorer or the defender...they have to defend and attack as well adjust to this idea of play. A number of world class footballers started off by playing Futsal in their home country and they credit Futsal for developing them into world class players. Cristiano Ronaldo honed his natural ability by playing futsal. “During my childhood in Portugal, all we played was futsal," he said. "The small playing area helped me improve my close control, and whenever I played futsal I felt free. If it wasn't for futsal, I wouldn't be the player I am today." World and European champion Xavi revealed his love of futsal, citing one reason in particular: “In futsal, you see whether a player is really talented. In normal football you don't necessarily identify talent as easily because it's so much more physical. But with futsal, you notice the small details in quality, class and tactical understanding." Arguably the most famous former Seleção icon is Ronaldo, the all-time leading scorer at the FIFA World Cup finals. The striker took up futsal at the age of 12 and has fond memories of the period.
“I needed extremely good feet, because you're always attempting to beat opponents in the minimum of space. I loved the challenge of playing on such a small pitch,"
