Hawick Horse Racing Association can confirm that Colin Robb has stepped down from his role as President due to personal reasons.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Colin for the time, effort and commitment he has given to the association during his time as President.

In the meantime, Grant Huggan has kindly agreed to step in as acting President. However, the committee is currently in urgent need of additional volunteers to help us continue running successful race meetings and fundraising events throughout 2026. We would warmly welcome anyone who feels they could contribute in any way.

Finally, we would also like to remind everyone that the new year of our 100 Club will begin in May. If you would like to join or renew your membership for the coming year, please get in touch with us. Thank you for your continued support.

At the committee meeting on Monday night, Hawick Horse Racing Association decided that their race meetings will take place on Saturday 2nd May, Friday 4th September and Saturday 5th September.

This change sees us move our middle meeting from early July to the night before the Peter Pan meeting in September. The committee made this change with hope that it leads to a better meeting than our summer meeting has over the last few years with regards to attendance, ground conditions and entries. The committee feels like it is important to be open to trying new things as long as they are calculated ideas and any potential risks are understood.

One main question I am sure will be how horses will qualify for the Peter Pan Handicap with this new schedule. Horses who run at either the 2nd May HHRA Meeting or the Selkirk Flapping Assoc. meeting in August will qualify for the Peter Pan Handicap.

Any thoughts or questions are welcome and the committee will discuss any points at our next meeting.

Thank you 🙏

📣 A heads up to other committees, horse owners and flapping supporters...

As per previous years, our first meeting of 2026 will be on Saturday 2nd May.

14/10/2025

HHRA held their Annual General Meeting at the beginning of October. The committee remains largely the same, with a few retiring members and some new faces.

President - Colin Robb
Vice President - Grant Huggan
Treasurer - Jane Fletcher
Secretary - Euan Welsh

Financially, there was a loss of just over £2200. The new committee looks to cover this deficit with fundraising attempts in the next few months.

As reiterated at the AGM, finding committee members and volunteers to help at race meetings is becoming increasingly difficult. This is largely due to the abuse received by people just trying to help at the gates, take entries etc. Going forward this will not be tolerated.

Anyone with ideas or suggestions who missed the AGM can drop us a message.

Planning for 2026 is underway.

Thank you.
