Some highlights from yesterday's shooting competition

We held our Summer Melee (random doubles, pairings changing for each of 3 games), Shooting Competition and BBQ this afternoon.

Congratulations to David for a splendid win and big kudos to new member Mark for second place.

In the shooting, Tony Kidd won by a mile leaving Simon and Justin in joint second.

Lots of lovely food and good to see some old faces too.

Our North Downs League (NDL) Team had a good result today beating Headley & Bordon by 7 games to 2.

That was our last NDL team game and gives us a total of 6 games won and 2 lost.

It remains to be seen if we’ve topped our league or are we just second.

Anyway, thanks to all the people who have played for us since April - you are all stars!

Sunday 26th saw us hosting an Open Doubles competition with teams from as far away as Kent, London and Hampshire as well as plenty of local talent.

The morning cloud gave us a respite from the sun although at one point everyone was sent running for coats or cover as a sudden shower passed over.

Eddie and Christian held off a come back from Sean and Pete to win Gold.

The gold consolage was won by Michelle and Ricky defeating Csaba and Joe.

In the Silver group, Eliot and Lesley lost to winners Tony and Graham.

The silver consolage saw Matthew and Asta beat Tawry and Pascale.

In the bronze group, Bill and Colin triumphed over Kev and young star Eleanor.

And finally, the bronze consolage was won by Handcross dream team Lesley and David who took victory over Handcross day dream team Mike and John.

Thanks as always to everyone who organised, set up, washed up, bought raffles tickets and especially all those last minutes stand in's.

Not so good news as our club's cabin has suffered from a little vandalism! The varanda has gone a bit wonky.

Any bored youth are encouraged to join us for a game and maybe a sneaky Pernod.

Handcross Village Residents Group any one out there any good with a bit of wood working? We are doing a quick temporary repair but will need a proper job doing at some point.

Three doubles teams made it down to Brighton last Sunday for Brighton Petanque Club's annual Open Doubles Competition.

After the morning leagues, Simon and Sean got into the Gold group before dropping into the consallage and losing in the final.

Bill and Stefan got into the Silver and only went and won it!

Tony and Graham also made Silver but lost in the semi's.

Thanks to everyone at Brighton for making it another very enjoyable day out.

Handcross had two teams competing last weekend in the Southern Counties Masters in Farnborough. This event crowns the top Triples team and decides the ranking for September's annual Inter-regional competition held in Weston-super-Mare.

JLS (Justin, Liam & Simon) finished 6th, while team Oui (Tony, Pete & Graham) came 9th.

Thanks to all that made it such a great weekend, organised, provided tea and biscuits and supported.

Great weekend at the Southern Counties Regional Qualifiers. Club members Tony, Pete and Graham (team Oui) came joint second, while Justin, Liam and Simon (team JLS) came fourth. Both well within the top 12 positions needed to qualify for the UK's Inter-regional competition in September.

Saturday was a scorching hot day. Teams had to adapt to 4 different playing surfaces at the newly created Bordon and Headley Petanque Club.

Teams will now player at the SCPA masters in July to decide the ranking for Septembers competition.

Congratulations to Tony Kidd from the club who won the Silver division at last weekend's Nation Singles competition. This is quite an achievement and we are all very proud, although we probably won't hear the end of it for a very long time.
