GARDNER TACKLE

Gardner have been developing advanced carp and coarse fishing equipment since 1980. As original innovators, ever since those early days we have continually strived to achieve perfection and set the standards that other companies have had to follow. Our range of tackle is constantly evolving and improving and this no compromise policy of quality and reliability has earned us a stron

Solid Bags – Alan Stagg

“I think solid bags are such an overlooked tactic on pressured big fish venues. Taking things back to basics and using a simple, yet very effective braided rig combined with a solid bag worked ever so well last year across a number of venues. When using solid bags I favour Martin Clarke’s Slip D-Rig with a balanced hook bait. The hook holds are simple amazing, and I barely dropped a fish all year, which is testament to not only the rig, but the terminal tackle used. I find the combination of a size 4 Mugga and a Large Covert Hook Aligner gives an incredibly successful hooking arrangement. When constructing the rig, it’s very important that the Trickster Heavy braid exists the Hook Aligner dead in line with the hook point, to ensure that once the hook link tightens it reacts incredibly quickly. I think this approach works particularly well on pressured waters that see low-lying pop-up rigs such as the Ronnie or D-Rigs (that are tied with stiff hook links or booms). day in and day out.”
