Retro kart championship ‘Midland Champs’ write up 🏆:

Being honest, this really wasn’t the return to retro that we wanted and It was possibly one of the worst weekends racing wise to date!!

With having to run the engine in on the Saturday and only having 4 practice session to do so as I my first heat in the afternoon I didn’t have long to get the kart how I wanted it to be. And not to mention having to get used to it again as over the past few month I have been driving completely different machines!

Heat 1:
P6 - DNF
On the very first lap I was taken out of the race. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the kart started back up I had to sit the rest of it out and watch the others complete the heat.

Heat 2:
P14 - P14
The same story occurred again…
On the very first lap of the heat I was spun round by another driver and taken out of the race.
However due to great sportsmanship from one of the Simon Morgan, who had also came off following the accident, they gave me a push and off I went again trying to chase everyone back down.
Although I was still a lap down I managed to finish the heat whilst being incredibly disappointed with the result.

Heat 3:
P7 - P6
In this heat I actually managed to have a few good battles with the other drivers. After getting a good start I managed to move over to the right of the circuit to take the inside line of the corner - this worked perfectly for me as I managed to gain a position and begin to push on to get the front pack.
After battling long and hard through the heat I only managed to gain the one position, but I was still happy that I had actually managed to finish something!

The FINAL:
P14 - DNF
Another incredibly disappointing race to be honest.
After getting an incredible start I had made 6 places up by the first corner taking that inside line again. After holding my position for another lap I managed to then get a good run onto the main straight and out drag someone into the bottom corner.
After then holding that position for 3 more laps I started the 5th lap.
This is where it all went wrong, as I came round the first and second corner there was a yellow flag approaching the third corner.
A driver had come off the circuit and spun out, whilst I was approaching the third corner the driver in which had come off the circuit had then decided to try and rejoin whilst I was entering the corner!!
Unfortunately this lead to them driving directly into me and bending my steering column, however this didn’t come to my attention until the next corner when I hit the brakes and I had no control of the steering which meant I half spun.
After restarting myself, I then rejoined the circuit and completed another lap before then nearly spinning again. So for my safety and others out out track I decided to pull off the track.

An incredibly disappointing weekend for my first meeting back at Retro as we have come away with unnecessary damage that could have been avoided.

But it was lovely to see everyone again, we WILL come back stronger at Wigan 💪🏻

And thank you to my dad for getting the kart ready to go back to retro after an incredibly busy off season. Although we have now had to reverse quite a bit of that work to fix it 😓😂.

Donington GP write up!

Last weekend saw me competing back with the British Superkart Racing Club at Donington Park!
With this being my dream ever since I was a little girl (as seen in the images below 😅). I was absolutely over the moon that I had finally been given the opportunity to be able to race on this fantastic circuit.

With a few little teething issues on the Friday I only had the last afternoon session to get used to the circuit. Within the 20 minutes I was already finding my feet and putting in a few good times which made us hopeful for the Saturday and Sunday.

Qualifying:
With having 12 minutes to put in a good qualifying lap on brand new tyres, I managed to put in a 1.38.939 which put me on pole in my class by over 1.5 seconds!!

Race 1:
P1 in class - P28 overall
With not quite knowing how it was going to go on my first mixed grid race I was slightly apprehensive at the start. However, after keeping 1st position I managed to find my feet rather quickly and pulled over a 10 second gap to the second man!

Race 2:
DNF
Unfortunately in this race I only managed to complete 1 full lap before the engine had seized. After looking at the situation once I had been towed back to the pits, we had come to a general consensus that the fuel we had used may have been “off” meaning that the engine wasn’t running correctly leading to an unpredictable seize.
We move on!

Race 3:
P2 in class and 31st overall from starting in 48th.
This race was rather interesting as it was my first in race safety car situation. After a few karts managed to get into a collision on the first lap we were then placed under a safety car for around 3 laps.
This truly made a difference to my race as once the safety car had cleared I found myself battling through the field and somehow ending up second in class!
I also managed to set my fastest lap of the weekend in the race being a 1.37.850 which was a huge improvement from qualifying!!

What a truly amazing experience that wouldn’t be possible without so many people.
But a special mention to Jade Karts for supplying me with the best equipment and also all of the data support over the weekend.
A more specific thank you to Ross Allen for all of the hard work you put in over the weekend even still whilst running your own kart. I do massively appreciate it.

Also well done to Ollie Holmes Motorsport for getting in the podium on the GP. proud ❤️

Now I’d like to thank all of my sponsors and anyone else who came over the weekend for making this possible:

Round 4 at Shenington Kart Racing Club - SKRC with the Super 4

Before we begin the write up I’d like to give a massive thank you to Ross Allen at Jade Karts for leading me an IAME engine to try for the weekend!!!

After not getting much practice in on Saturday it was straight into the race day!
With beautiful weather (for once) 😅.
We were straight into heat 1 with fresh tyres 🔥.

(As I am a novice I will be starting from the back until I have received all of my signatures from MSUK)

Starting on one of my busiest grids of my whole karting career it was fair to say that the nerves were kicking in!
But, we knew that it was full commitment and full send from the beginning 💪🏻

Heat 1:
P30 - P28 📈
Heat 2:
P30 - P27📈
Heat 3:
P30 - P26📈

The final:
P30 - P22📈

Although my results came from other people unfortunately either pulling off due to mechanical failures or contact putting them out of the race.
However I do not feel the results are a reflection of my progress this meeting in comparison to the last. With my lines and understanding of the kart significantly improving in comparison to round 3 it was definitely a step forward in my KZ journey.
Let’s keep up the good work 🔥

Thank you for all of the support from my continued sponsors:

And also not to mention a huge thank you to Sue Fells Vernon for getting my name put on the back of my suit and the belt ❤️.

The classic is not coming out to play as much this year but it certainly hasn’t been forgotten…

Lots of little tweaks and upgrades are still appearing on the AK in the background ready for when we are back competing at the Retro Kart Championship 💪🏻

I’ll be back better than ever when the time finally comes 🥹🏆

Shenington Kart Racing Club - SKRC March madness!!

With some amazing weather on the Friday and Saturday I managed to get some really good dry running testing…
With plenty of help from my dad and Ollie Holmes Motorsport I felt ready for the Sunday!!

(As I am a novice I am still starting from the back )

Heat 1:
P7 - P7
With getting an excellent start I gained 2 places off of the line and managed to hold them off for around half a lap before I spun going into the Bruno chicane…
After deciding I wasn’t going to sit watching the rest of the heat I did something I have never done in my karting career before and managed to run and jump into the kart to start myself!
After being a lap down I now just worked on improving my lap times.

Heat 2:
P7 - P7
After getting another good start I got up to P5 and held them off for 3 laps but eventually they got past due to my lack of experience.
So I then used the opportunity of the rest of this heat to work on my lap times and keep my focus.

The rain then came (again 🤦🏻‍♀️😓)
The final:
Starting from P7 I made a huge mistake and never made it off the start…
So again I ran and jumped into the kart and managed to get going again. After doing so I now really just wanted to keep the kart on track.
I finished the final in P6 after another driver dnf’d.

Another difficult but very educational weekend. A lot was learnt with the set up of the kart and we now look towards the future.

Another huge thank you to Jade Karts for letting me compare my data on top of their drivers. Incredibly grateful for all of your help!
