Captain's Cup
Another knockout was played tonight with Andrew Watson against Jack Parker.
The Handicap knockout for golfers up to 13.4 handicap.

Both players being off similar handicaps meant the match had no shots given and received, therefore played off scratch.

The first hole was halved in par and then Jack then took control with some excellent golf and forcing a lead of 6 up after nine holes!

The 10th and 11th was halved in pars and Jack making a birdie on the 12th to take the win 7-6!

Congratulations on your win Jack, Quality golf Showed.

Another Knockout Trophy was completed today!

The Secretary's Cup was played today between Steve Hall/Rob Vine and Paul Beckett/Jim Seedhouse with Paul and Jim receiving 12 shots.

The match was refereed by John Newton (Captain), the format is a "Greensomes" format with both players in each team Driving off and then electing their best drive to play forward.

Jim and Paul took the early lead with the advantage being squared a couple of times in the first 5 holes. Steve and Rob then gained the lead on the 6th which was very quickly returned to all square after 7, but from then on Steve and Rob played a very steady scoring game taking the lead and very much taking control on the back nine.

Steve and Rob pushed forward to Win the match 4 & 3, congratulations to them.

Commiserations to Jim and Paul, but well done on getting to the final.

Captains Away Day-Stanton on the Wolds
What a glorious day to play golf! Especially when you are playing on a great golf course in such good condition, and on such a nice day.
With greens rolling like the finest Axminster, you couldn't help but appreciate the choice of course from Captain John Newton.
The Captains away is very much about playing for the Art Ozolins Trophy, a fine trophy in memory of a great member who was Secretary at the club.
Some good golf was played and Rina Ozolin came to present the prizes.
5 scores were on 36pts being separated by Bk 9’s, bk 6’s and back 3’s

The Elsham Trophy Final is played at Elsham Golf Club, Belton Woods have been successful to reach the Finals in the last two years (2025, 2026). Those of you that have played the game of Golf in the format of Foursomes (playing alternate shots) know how intense the game can be.

Congratulations to the Men’s Scratch Team from Belton Woods GC in getting to the final again in 2026!

In what started as a slightly damp start to the morning, Belton Woods were drawn against Forest Pines in the Morning round, it turned into a very close run game with the aggregate score of all three match’s counting towards the overall result. It proved to be an 8-7 loss for Belton Woods, which would put them into a 3rd/4th Playoff in the Afternoon against Stoke Rochford GC.

The afternoon games proved to be successful and took 3rd place with a 9-1 win.

The overall Trophy was won by Lincoln Golf Club, 2nd Forest Pines, 3rd Belton Woods, 4th Stoke Rochford

Well done to the Lads involved lets work on 3 in a row, and look forward to next year.

BELTON WOODS TEAM NEWS
A busy weekend this weekend for the Teams at Belton Woods.

Ladies A Team at Home v's Toft
On another warm & sunny day we welcomed Toft for our return match on our challenging Lakes course. With the continued drought conditions the course although presented very well, played fast and fiery and it came down to those who were able to manage the bounces best!! Our first two matches sealed their wins on the 16th with the third match going in Tofts favour leaving the decider to the final match which went all the way to the 18th in front of a huge patio audience, where unfortunately Toft by the narrowness of margin took the win! Making the final result a 2-2 draw.

Men's B Team Home (Handicap League) v Belton Park
Belton Woods with a very solid 5-1 win over Belton Park

Men's A Team (Home) v South Kyme
The A Team continue to push for a chance of winning the league, and gave themselves every chance with a 5.5 v 0.5 win over South Kyme!
This leaves 2 game to play, and with Spalding getting a draw away to Greetham Valley, the League now sees Spalding at the Top of the league with 10 points and Belton Woods on 10 points.
The A Team have both Greetham Valley and Spalding to play at Belton Woods in the last 2 games.
