Another brilliant trip to the Forest of Dean today for more Hope WMN Enduro practice — and what a day of progress it was.
It was Gen Pearce first visit, so the focus was all about learning the tracks, figuring out line choice, and sessioning sections until things started to click. By the end of the day she was riding features she’d been convinced were “impossible” that same morning. Watching that confidence grow is exactly why we do these trips.
Ange Friar and Sheree Breckon , already one practice session in, arrived much more relaxed and ready to build speed. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing — both had sections playing on their minds after mistakes last time, and the emotional rollercoaster was real. After studying the lines, Shree decided to give her tricky section another go… but didn’t quite get where she needed to be and repeated the same mistake, resulting in a little lie‑down.
Learning new trails is mentally tiring, and sometimes when the mistakes start creeping in, the bravest thing you can do is call it a day and come back fresh. There’s no shame in it — in fact, it’s smart riding. A reset, a breather, and suddenly the things that felt overwhelming become completely doable.
