The 1st XI welcome Chepstow as they look to bounce back from last week's defeat. There are a couple of changes to the side, with players returning.

The 2nd XI travel to Carmarthen, who currently sit top of the league. Robbie Morris returns from holiday for an early-season top-of-the-table clash.

The 3rd XI travel to Llangennech as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Another father-and-son duo will represent Maesteg, as the man behind the scenes returns to the playing. Neil Morris lines up alongside his son Samuel, who makes his senior debut for the club.

Good luck to all three sides this weekend.

More improvements down the club with the installation of an artificial wicket and new run-ups for our practice nets.

This is another investment in the future of the club and something that will benefit all sections, from our juniors through to the women’s and men’s sides.

The new facilities will provide better training opportunities throughout the season and help us continue developing players at every level.

A big thank you to everyone involved in helping make these improvements possible.

Another great weekend down the club, starting Friday with the women’s and juniors, before the senior sides took centre stage across the weekend.

The 1st XI lost by 1 run in an entertaining game. After a strong 40 overs with the ball, the final 10 got away from us slightly, leaving 169 to chase. The run chase looked all but over when Elliot Colston and Lee Hicks met at the crease in the 37th over, needing 76 runs to win. However, a brilliant stand from Elliot and an unbelievable 51 from Lee, left us needing 2 runs from the final 2 balls. Unfortunately, only a single was made, but the character shown proves the boys are never truly out of a game.

The 2nd XI continued their winning form after beating a strong and experienced Ammanford side. Lloyd Wilkshire scored a superb 101, a true captain’s performance, with others contributing around him. Nicholas Dixon finished the innings with a quickfire 24* to help set a total of 242. Another strong bowling performance followed, especially from Andrew Whelan and young Alfie Bevan on debut, as the 2nd XI won by 71 runs despite some questionable calls.

The 3rd XI continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 5-wicket win. They were set 199 to chase from 40 overs after a solid bowling performance, with opening pair Thomas Harding and Adrian Stevenson particularly economical. The total was chased down in 38 overs, with contributions throughout the order.

Another strong weekend from all three sides.

Weekend Fixtures

The 1st XI travel to Mumbles, where the skipper’s absence allows Jeff Watkin to continue his streak of 60 years playing first-team cricket.

The 2nd XI welcome a strong Ammanford side who are yet to lose a game this season. Lloyd Wilkshire steps up as captain while Robbie is still away, and young Alfie Bevan makes his debut for the club.

The 3rd XI play their first game up South Parade, where they welcome 3rd placed Aberystwyth 1st XI. The boys will be looking to maintain their strong start and stay top of the table.

Hopefully another great weekend for the club.

Weekend Results

The 1st XI picked up a strong win against a quality Ynysygerwyn side

After Ynys made a solid start, going at 5 an over after the first 10, the boys fought back to restrict them to 115. Impressive spells from Morgan Griffiths and Elliot Colston helped turn the innings, with Morgan the pick of the bowlers taking 5-28. We then chased the total down in 32.5 overs thanks to two composed knocks from Thomas Morgan and Ashley Colston.

The 2nd XI picked up a big win, with Jonny Hood impressing with the bat once again, scoring a solid 72. Jordan Richards also chipped in with a quick 38 to help us post 170. The bowlers then came out firing, with strong spells from Roger, Jeff and Nathan. Roger was the pick of the bowlers on his return to the side, taking 5-24.

The 3rd XI also picked up a 20-point victory despite not playing, with Tata Cavs conceding the fixture.
