International Eventing Forum

International Eventing Forum IEF 2020takes place on Monday 3 February 2020. Put it in your diary TODAY! full details available on http://www.internationaleventingforum.com/.

Our sport is constantly evolving and never at a speed faster than in the last 5 years. And we all must continue to look ahead if we want to succeed. The 2017 International Eventing Forum brings together another superb line of up riders and trainers who are expertly positioned to help us to do just that. Our morning session will kick off with demonstrations from two ladies who excel in training for

top performance: Tracie Robinson – dressage trainer for Equestrian Team GBR and Caroline Moore – FBHS and BE u18 and Junior Team Coach. Attendees will then be able to learn how three top class eventing grooms – Alex van Tuyll, Imo Mercer and Zanie King work to keep horses fit, sound and at peak performance, when it’s needed most. Our feature afternoon session will then be led by Badminton’s new course designer – Eric Winter – and will explore and discuss next generation cross country. He will be ably supported by Christopher Burton and Sam Griffiths (members of Australia’s Bronze medal winning team in Rio), who will share their training techniques for their next generation medal horses.

You may have heard the news already, but the 2020 International Eventing Forum has been the last. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the presenters, riders and helpers for making the IEF such a wonderful success over the years.

The 2020 International Eventing Forum has been the last, bringing to an end nearly two decades of world-class education.   Since the inaugural date in 2004, the International Eventing Forum has grown into a ‘must attend’ pre-season fixture for both Eventing coaches and riders. However, they say...

The Experts Explain with Andrew Nicholson and Robbie Power - International Eventing Forum 2020 - Hartpury Arena, Hartpury, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom - 04 February 2020

Picture highlights from our afternoon session at earlier this month, where attendees were treated to a masterclass of training and riding when Andrew Nicholson and Robbie Power came together to discuss and demonstrate the development of Horsemanship when jumping Cross Country, Show Jumping and in Racing. I think everyone that attended had the same reaction - superb!

At we were treated to a brilliant demonstration and discussion on how to fall in a safer way. While we all aim not to fall off, as event riders it's unfortunately bound to happen every now and again. So why not learn to fall in such a way as to minimise injury? Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Michael Eames from Orthoderm and Martial Arts expert Gary Spence have joined forces to deliver a practical course teaching riders how to fall in a safer way and we so enjoyed (and benefited from) getting a snap shot of what it's all about.

Picture highlights from our first session at the 2020 International Eventing Forum! Gillian Carlisle from The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre gave some incredible insights into what it takes to take a horse from the track and retrain into a riding horse as well as showing us all what incredible work her organisation does. We were then treated to a brilliant discussion on the importance of TB blood in eventing from William Micklem - one of the most knowledgeable breeders in our sport.
