Now that all the race marks have been laid and are in use for racing, PoFSA Race Management would like to remind racers about the use of buoy positions on electronic charts.

Statement from PoFSA: Positions of Sponsored Seasonal Race Marks

“In the past, various electronic chart providers have, on their own initiative, added the PoFSA seasonal race marks to their charts using published positions that were publicly available at the time. At least one well-known provider has also allowed users to post their own positions of these marks.

Having added marks, e-chart providers do not necessarily check the positions on a regular basis for future changes.

PoFSA organising authorities always publish the annual positions with their race documents (Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions).

Competitors are strongly reminded always to use mark positions officially stated by organising authorities and not to rely on unofficial charted positions that may be out of date.”

Thanks - Neil Andrew, Chair, PoFSA Race Management Group.
