🏏 Hemsworth Harriers Kick Off Their 2026 League Campaign with a Win! 🏏
Hemsworth Harriers took to the field for our first league game of 2026 against Oulton Cougars!
Vice Captain Emma won the toss and elected to field first — a decision that quickly paid off.
The team produced some outstanding fielding, with excellent triangle work from bowlers Michelle and Nicola, backstop Beth, and first post Hannah, making it incredibly difficult for Oulton Cougars to reach first after missed shots. The innings ended before all 30 balls were bowled with a side out.
A special mention goes to Georgia, who pulled off some fantastic catches in sweep.
When it was our turn to bat, the team showed great determination, scoring a mix of halves and full rounders. Strong batting throughout the side, combined with some clever tactical batting from Hannah, saw us finish the first innings leading 7–4
The second innings brought more impressive fielding from the whole team, once again ending with a side out before all 30 balls had been bowled.
We then stepped up to bat for the final innings and continued our excellent form, producing some fabulous batting performances to secure the win.

The umpire's shout-out went to Georgia for her superb fielding and catches, while Player of the Match was awarded to Beth C for her fantastic backstop work, excellent field coverage, and some brilliant halves and rounders scored.
