Kinsley looked to finish the season strong today with a home fixture against Mallard. In true fashion though, three lads didn’t make it out of bed, and with injuries to superstar captain Caiden Burton plus a few away on holiday — including ever-present Dylan Ellis — the squad was down to just 12 and looking very makeshift.

Despite that, the lads battled well. After going 1–0 down, heads didn’t drop. Our very own “deaf magician” produced a moment of quality, flicking the ball over a defender before tucking away a tidy finish to level it at 1–1.

Mallard then hit back hard, capitalising on a few mistakes, with goals coming through errors involving Robbie and new signing Lewis Firth. But again, the boys refused to lie down. James grabbed his second of the game with a composed finish, and then up stepped Yoel — who had barely covered 0.7km all half — to bury an unbelievable free kick right on the stroke of half time to make it 3–3.

Game on… or so we thought.

The second half told a different story. Kinsley struggled to create chances, while Mallard punished defensive mistakes from Alex Penty and keeper Charlie Binder. The visitors took control and saw the game out, finishing 5–3 winners.

Big credit to James, who was outstanding throughout, and to Alex Penty for completing a full 90 minutes — a rare sight over the past decade!

Congratulations to Mallard on their promotion — a strong side with some very good players.

Kinsley Match Report – vs ZK Dons

On Sunday, the lads travelled over to Balby to face league leaders ZK Dons.

With no referee and only around seven ZK players present five minutes before kick-off, you could be forgiven for thinking we might have a bit of luck on our side. Their manager stepped in to referee, and just before kick-off, another six players arrived — game on.

We actually started brightly, but that only lasted about five minutes before ZK Dons opened the scoring. That quickly turned into two, then three, then four, as we struggled to get to grips with the game early on.

It was a warm Sunday morning on a 3G pitch, and with a number of lads missing through illness, work, or not quite making it out of bed, we did well just to get 12 players together. In fact, it said it all when coach Rob Stables had to slot in at left-back.

After going 4–0 down, we finally started to settle and play some football. Our breakthrough came when Jammy tucked one in at the near post to make it 4–1 going into half-time.

At the break, we regrouped, spoke about the mistakes, and came out with a different attitude. Driven on by new captain Caiden Burton, the lads put together a brilliant spell. Bai Cham grabbed two quick goals to pull it back to 4–3 and suddenly we were right in it.

ZK Dons kept pushing, but the back line stood firm and organised. Kian Cullimore had an excellent game at right-back, and even Parka Gerrard managed to put a shift in.

Unfortunately, tiredness began to show and we couldn’t quite keep up with the pace. ZK Dons added two more late goals to finish the game 6–3.

All things considered, it was a solid performance from the lads against a strong side — they’re top of the league for a reason. Plenty to build on, and if this group sticks together, there’s no reason we can’t be pushing towards the top ourselves next season.

Kinsley Boys Match Report

Kinsley travelled to the hallowed turf of Cantley Park with a makeshift squad, as a few lads were missing due to the Easter weekend. That said, it gave others a chance to step up and make their mark. With Kailub still out “raving,” Charlie Simmons bravely volunteered to go in net, while this week’s captain was none other than the ever-vocal Caiden Burton.

We started the game with the wind behind us, both teams taking time to settle and find their rhythm. Just over two minutes in, we were forced into an early change as Penty pulled his calf. Not long after, we were awarded a free kick from around 30 yards. Kitch delivered a great ball into the box, and with a bit of help from a Greys defender—who produced an absolute beauty of a header into his own net—we took a 1-0 lead.

The Greys responded well and eventually found the net to make it 1-1. In the past, that might have knocked us, but to our credit, we found another gear. Following a goalmouth scramble, Bai reacted quickest to head home and restore our lead at 2-1. Then, just before half-time, Kitch picked up the ball on the edge of the area and fired home to give us a strong 3-1 advantage going into the break.

We knew the second half would be tough, especially now facing into the wind—and it proved exactly that. The Greys came out flying and put us under real pressure. We defended well and showed great resilience, but struggled to turn defence into attack. Eventually, a deflected shot brought it back to 3-2.

For a moment, it looked like we might just hold on, but the pressure told and the Greys found an equaliser to make it 3-3.

Full credit to the lads—they dug in, battled through injuries, and put in a real shift, with some playing out of position. On another day it could’ve been more, but given the circumstances, it’s a hard-earned point and plenty of positives to take.
