The smallest of things can make or break the first impression.

We all get caught up in the day to day at times but it’s really useful to take a step back and think about the customer journey.

What’s their experience like when they first interact with you?
Easy to navigate?
Or full of blockers and delayed responses?

How many customers might you have lost because it was too hard to find the information they needed or they didn’t get the warmest welcome when they first reached out?

In today’s world of ai, a human touch is more valuable than ever before and could make you stand out from the crowd.

So make sure your services are easy to find & you’re easy to contact. Go above and beyond in that first interaction and start the relationship with a ‘wow, they’re amazing’ not ‘yikes that was hard work’

Small things can make a big difference.

And holler if you need help with your online presence or customer onboarding journey đŸ’«

Websites can get really out of date quite fast.
Staff changes, new services added, fresher images taken. If yours needs a little spruce let me know and I’d be happy to take a look at it.

Please get off the cross trainer.

Not forever. Cardio is important.

But please stop spending every gym session safely tucked away in the cardio section because you’re frightened that picking up a weight will suddenly make you “bulky”.

It won’t.

Building significant muscle is difficult. It requires progressive training, increasing resistance, consistency, adequate nutrition and a lot of time.

Meanwhile, strength training can help you build and preserve muscle, strengthen your bones, improve your balance and remain physically capable as you get older.

So yes, use the cross trainer if you enjoy it.

But please pick up some weights too.

Your future self will be very glad you did.

Send this to the woman who is still worried one strength session will turn her into the Hulk đŸ’Ș

used to think cricket was a very dull, very long game.

3 weeks ago I accidentally got drafted in to play with Chagford ladies as my daughter was playing, they were short & I happened to be there.

No idea of the rules, never held a cricket bat before in my life - but sure, why not.

I went back today for my second match - and I can’t believe I’m about to say this
 but cricket is fun!

Seems anything that has me running around chasing balls is up my street - maybe I was a golden retriever in a previous life đŸ„Ž

Staying physically active is so crucial to every single person. When I was a personal trainer people would always say to me “oh I’d love to get fit but I hate the gym”

Guys - there are SO many ways to stay active and healthy!
Don’t like the gym? Don’t go!
Play a sport, run, swim, dance .. it really doesn’t matter. Try something new, do something you did as a kid .. just do đŸ’«

Put three creatives in a room together for a day and what do you get?
A whole lot of fun, art and tea, apparently!

That was the order of the day on Thursday when I was asked to spend the day with much-loved South West artist Becky Bettesworth and Charlotte from Simply B , capturing content for a new project they’re launching.

We had so much fun creating and filming. I’m only sharing this picture because I don’t want to give the game away 😉 but safe to say, we got some brilliant footage and I can’t wait to see it all come together.

I’ve been doing more content shoots alongside my other work recently, and I’m really enjoying them. There’s something very satisfying about taking someone else’s ideas and figuring out how to bring them to life on camera.

So yes, I would definitely up for more days that involve cameras, creative businesses and copious amounts of tea. ☕

“I just need help.”

That’s usually how conversations start.

“Which idea should I focus on?”
“Am I paying too much for my systems?”
“What should I delegate, and to who?”
“Is there better tech for this now?”
“Is my website even working?”
“How could I scale this?”
“What next?”

Sound familiar? These are the questions I hear on repeat, from founders who are brilliant at what they do and completely lost on everything else.

And I get it. Everything moves so fast right now. New tools, new platforms, new “must haves” every other week. It’s genuinely hard to keep up, let alone know what’s actually worth your time and what isn’t.

Sometimes you don’t need another course or another app. You just need someone who can see your vision and talk it through with you properly.

I’ve spent years freelancing inside other people’s businesses. Different industries, different stages, different problems. It’s given me a front row seat most people never get, and a very clear idea of what actually works and what’s just noise.

So now I’m bringing that to you. 60 minutes, properly digging into it. Then I go away and build your plan myself, no fluff, no vague advice, just what to do next.

Ideal for the small business owner who feels a little lost and overwhelmed and needs some clarity and support.

I’m so tired of seeing sensational claims on social media that are just not true, ai slop or misinformation.

No wonder no one knows what to believe anymore.

From my years in the health and fitness industry it’s always driven me crazy the utter rubbish people get told just for companies to sell their products.

My clients used to come to me so confused or trying to convince me that the latest fad they’d found was science backed and it really worked for their mates mate 🙄

And it’s even worse now, with ai we have no idea what videos or images are real, tech is moving so fast we are made to feel like we are falling behind if we don’t sign up to every new course or buy all the apps.

It’s overwhelming.

I’ve got a bit of a spidey sense for fake news (or maybe I’m just a miserable sceptic 😂) but I have a habit of fact checking everything and you won’t believe how much really is nonsense.

My job needs me to be on top of emerging trends both in tech and within wellbeing. So I’m constantly figuring out fact from fiction. And I’m going to start sharing more of that because I’m tired of the bu****it đŸ€·đŸŒâ€â™€ïž

I’ll deep dive as much as I can to help us thrive in the modern world both in our health and in our businesses đŸ’«

The beauty industry is very good at taking legitimate science and wrapping it in some fairly enormous promises.

And LED masks are a perfect example.

A glowing mask costing anywhere from £25 to nearly £1,500 looks exactly like something we could all be persuaded we desperately need, without having the faintest idea what we’re actually buying.

So I went looking beyond the brand claims.

The interesting part is that the technology itself isn’t nonsense. There is credible research behind it. The harder question is whether the particular mask you’re considering delivers the right kind of light, at the right dose, and whether you’ll use it consistently enough to see a difference.

Because “clinically proven wavelengths” isn’t the same as that exact mask being clinically tested.

Seven colours don’t automatically make it better.

And wearing it for twice as long won’t necessarily get you results twice as quickly.

My honest view? I would recommend a good LED mask if it fits comfortably within your budget and you’re realistic about the results. It’s an addition to good skincare, not a miracle replacement for it.

The internet is very good at telling us what to buy. I’d rather work out what’s genuinely worth our money.

Save the checklist before choosing one, and tell me: what beauty or wellness gadget should I investigate next?

Research referenced includes controlled trials and systematic reviews published in Medicine, Lasers in Medical Science and dermatology journals.

I saw a headline on this and immediately had questions 🧐

Is Google actually ringing businesses? What does it say? How does it decide who to call? And, more importantly, what does this mean if you run a small business?

So I went digging through Google’s own documentation rather than relying on the headline.

And yes, this is real.

Google can now use AI to contact multiple businesses on a customer’s behalf, ask for things like prices and availability, and bring the responses back to them.

The specific “Have AI check pricing” feature is currently documented as available in the US, so UK businesses don’t need to panic about missing a robot phone call just yet.

But I think the direction of travel is the interesting bit.

Search is becoming less about giving us a list of links and businesses to investigate ourselves, and more about doing some of that work for us.

There isn’t a secret trick to getting Google’s AI to choose your business. Google doesn’t currently publish exactly how businesses are selected for these calls.

So for now? Get the basics right. Keep your Google Business Profile accurate. Make it really obvious what you do, where you do it and how people can contact you. And check those automated call settings.

No panic. No secret AI hack. Just something worth knowing about before it lands here.

Save this if you run a local business, and repost for your fellow small business friends
