What a lovely start to the season it’s been. We’ve welcomed so many beginners beginning their fly fishing journey with the Devon School of Fly Fishing this year, alongside our returning customers and those looking to develop and refine their casting skills further.

I feel incredibly grateful to be able to do this for a living. Being on our beautiful rivers fishing for wild fish is truly a dream come true for me.

We are now fully booked until late August, but still have a couple of weeks of September available.

A huge thank you to all of our customers for your continued support, enthusiasm, and trust, and thanks to for being awesome and producing such nice tackle for our guests to use.

📖 End of an Era 🎣

The Devon School of Fly Fishing has had a special connection with The Fox and Hounds for almost 20 years. Thousands of people began their fly fishing journey on the Taw right there at The Fox, thanks to the school founded by Pete Tyjas.
In 2020 I was lucky enough to take the school on from Pete, and since then I’ve loved looking after hotel guests, sharing great days on the river, and creating plenty of happy memories.

2025 will be my last year at Fox & Hounds Country Hotel Devon. It’s bittersweet, but I’m really excited to focus on bespoke accommodation and new waters that suit guests’ needs even better. Lots of exciting announcements to come in 2026!

What a fab day!
A huge thank you to everyone who came—it was brilliant to reconnect with old friends and meet so many new faces. I was completely blown away by the passion and knowledge shared by , , , and .sam.

This event was all about bringing anglers together, offering insight into regenerative farming, and hearing from people who dedicate their lives to protecting and improving our rivers and ecosystems. Feeling inspired and grateful!
